I've gradually been reading my way through Gore Vidal's series of historical novels about American history. Well written, iconoclastic, full of insight and brilliant characterization I've enjoyed them all. Only 'Lincoln' left to read.

My favourites were Washingto D.C. and Hollywood. Highly recommend to anyone with an interest in the history of the USA.

Now read Lincoln, and I have to say that although its quite different from the rest of the series, its one of the best historical novels Ive read.
