so I've always been into music like The Beatles and Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd since I was a little kid, but as of recent times, I kinda stopped on that path and headed down the path of the metal >:D I've listened to nothing but metal for the past little bit and I was curious if anyone had any suggestions on bands for me to check out?? something peaceful that I can smoke a bowl to. new or old, either way. and no technoey stuff, please?? I really can't stand that kind of music. anyway, please help me find some stuff like that, and discuss your favorite artists and why you love them and stuff :D have a wonderful day :3l

    Try Summoning - Stronghold.

    Opening track:

For further exploration: newer albums are more atmospheric/peaceful, older albums are less peaceful :p All their songs are inspired by the darker sides of Tolkiens books so I'm not sure to what extend they are hippie artists either but it is metal and I like to chill with it.

I used to listen to metal through my teenage years as well... still do sometimes. But nowadays I mostly listen to stoner rock or sludge when I feel like listening to some dirty riffs while getting high. Earthless are one of my top choices.

Just clicked on that link and so I, the witchfinter on top of the list... Awesome! That song and the whole album is so deliciously evil! All of my flatmates got addicted to it at some point, no matter if they were punks or prog rockers :)

I'll check the Earthless tour as well... Would be really nice to see them live.

I'm not so much into Electric Wizard myself anymore, except for some tracks like Funeralopolis and the very chill Mountains of mars which seems like a worthy recommendation for Skylennon, hope you dig it!

thanks again for this link Asmodean, will be going through the songs that I don't know yet tonight :)
And Vienna seems like a good place to catch Earthless in july, I've been to the Arena last year to see Baroness and it's a great (and loud) venue.

Primus - Antipop was always one of my favorites growing up. Not exactly chillout type, I guess it could be, it's got some killer basslines and interesting lyrics. I've got tons of more jamband type recommendations. I wasn't really a big fan of metal and alternative rock for too long. Megadeth was a fun one for a while there.
