Hello Everybody... well it seems that Jeff Bezos, ( of Amazon ) has purchased The Washington Post from the Graham family, who owned it for years & years

and the Bancroft family sold off The Wall Street Journal last year.

Now there is chatter that The Sulsberger family is bound to sell The N.Y. Times sometimes in the future. They have owned it for generations. They sold off their interest in The Boston Globe

No bank ownership here, these are old line east coast families.

I've been reading my local Patch a lot lately. Why do you think it's so good?

 

Banks was short-hand for rich buggers. Those families owned more than just the papers. They had companies, corporations, investments in all sorts of other things, all of which were controlled/financed through the banking sector - stocks and shares. So the families, were banking families, whose wealth was tied up with the banks. Whose interests intersected with... the banks...

The same small number of uberwealthies who own the banks, own the press. (And the internet)(Which freaks me out, just a little)(how long before google starts suppressing 'how much tax does google pay' searches?)

 

The media definitely stirs up drama between everyone. They only keep jobs because of this and we just have to make people aware.
