I doubt with just a few hundred you can manipulate the price enough to buy them back much cheaper. I've bought some myself and been watching it closely, the price fluctuates a lot, so for a day trader like me it's fun. Got some stalled at MtGox and Bitstamp, their prices differ quite a bit sometimes. Earlier today MtGox was at 147$ while Bitstamp was at 144$. For those who want to get started, but don't have the money to buy coins directly, there are other ways to get them. I will list a few of them: http://www.coinreaper.com/index.php - get small amounts for visiting websites. http://www.dragons.tl/ - MMORPG casino style, with free giveaways. https://sealswithclubs.eu/ - pokersite with hourly freerolls. I'll add more later if there is any interest. Bitcoins are fun!
i use a blockchain wallet (nice that time mtgox shut down) idk if trans fees differ? yeah it,s crazy going from 237.00- 72.00......140.00-98.00...............wtf..sites getting DDOS attacks every couple days. idk some russian organiztion with PC programmers is getting rich. and alot of deepnet places are dissapearing to DDOs attacks, they recieved email,s demanding 2,000-5,000 or there site will die to constant ddos. or give up there customers. i looked for one of the wallet adress and 2,000 was was paid it. lol all the free sites are nice to start out esp. if ya saved them from before the big jump(back 17.50 a coin) to really buy them bitinstant is good, i go pay the bill i print and by the time i get home i got coins.
:computer: > Bitcoin is designed with the ideals of the contemporary cyber movement in mind: decentralization, peer to peer, cryptography. Easily transferable in ones and zeros, it’s a storage of value for a virtual society. As a payment system, it's a temporal store of money that can be easily sent across the globe securely and speedily without counterparty risk. No matter the price of bitcoin, these benefits will always give it purpose < A Guide to Bitcoin Mining... http://motherboard.vice.com/blog/a-...bought-a-1500-bitcoin-miner-on-ebay-for-20600
Yes I've been playing with bitcoin since they were around 5 dollars each and I read something somewhere the other day predicting that they could be worth over $500 by the end of the year
They're pretty cool. It's great the the Internet has it's own currency, and it's time has come. It's real money and anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand that all money is based on the power of human imagination. But I don't know about this specific incarnation of bitcoin. I think right now it has a disposition to people hoarding them, and because of that, I think the value of it might bust after this heavy boom cycle. The Internet is, at its core, more powerful than any government and will need it's own currency, so if bitcoin doesn't work out, something very similar will take its place. Or maybe just a second incarnation of it, or something else real cool.
There are already plenty of other cryptocurrencies out there, but none of them have gotten quite the momentum that Bitcoin got. Lots of retailers, both on- and offline, are already starting to accept Bitcoins as payment. I run a few webshops myself and I am in the process of adding Bitcoin payment as well. I believe this is the future, fiat currency will be no longer relevant. Bitcoin stands for the right idea of how money should work; decentralised, fast, easy.
There have been many predictions, but nobody can predict what happens. I have seen anything from Bitcoin being worth between $0 and $1,000,000. Personally I believe it might go up to 1-4k within a few years. But then again, Bitcoin is way too unpredicatable to say something about it. Anyone here doing some daytrading? What do you use and how/when do you trade? I mostly use Clarkmoody's H4, H1 and M15 EMA's. Crossing bars for selling/buying.
^^not sure if i understand your question, but maybe this answers it. if you go to coinbase or something like that and get an account, you get issued one unique bitcoin address. then at all the sites, you paste in your address, and they send very small payments to it when you visiting websites, etc. i've been doing this for a month now, just when i'm at the computer for an hour or more, i visit a site on one tab, and listen to music, go to HF, email, etc on other tabs. i've made a WHOPPING 0.006 bitcoins
Well, from an youtube vid I've seen, the only guarantee that a bitcoin hasn't been transacted more than once is through "proof of work". In other words, the individuals who mine information making it a pretty good guess that that bitcoin hasn't been transacted twice or more. I wonder if the same is done with your bitcoin address. Also, can you have more than one bitcoin address?
i'm far from an expert. i think you Could have more than one. does it matter if a bitcoin has been transacted more than once? a dollar doesn't lose value if it's change hands more than once.. edit - i got ya. thanks for clarifying.
I was not referring to the changing of hands. I was referring to the same bitcoin being transacted simultaneously to two different persons. Like, selling the same land to two different prospective owners. It's impossible to do with physical currency, but possible with a virtual one. That's where proof of work comes in, as far as I've been able to research.
People much smarter than I are better at explaining the technical stuff. But I'll try to answer anyway. Every transaction needs confirmations. For most smaller transactions one confirmation is enough, for bigger transaction you ideally want six. All transactions are included in the block chain, this way all transaction can be verified. Yes, you can have as many as you want.
Thanks a lot, bird. One last question before I get onto the bitcoin bandwagon: As far as I can tell, the 'free' bitcoins are essentially earned by generating traffic to websites who then pay you with fractional bitcoins. Isn't that right? If I were to buy them outright, as currency exchange, which online market would you suggest?
That's right, for clicking links you get fractional Bitcoins, usually the equivalent of a few cent. At the pokersite you could get more, for example I made about 0.25 BTC from freerolls alone, which would be worth about $30 at todays rate. Biggest trading place is Mt.Gox, but they need some of your personal info before you can deposit money there. Another one that I personally like is Bitstamp. Here you can do a bank transfer without having to show your personal info. Takes around 2 business days for your money to arrive. If you want to buy directly you could try LocalBitcoins. Here you can find people in your area to buy directly from. Another way is eBay. Generally people do not accept credit card or PayPal, because those transactions are reversable. In Holland we have a banking system called Ideal, which allows us to buy directly with debit card, but you'd have to check in your country if anything like that exists.
i'll have to check out those gambling sites then, bird. ...about to register on seals with clubs. you want me to say that you referred me? btw i think this is the only thread i've ever seen you (bird) be serious
