If anyone is interested I would like to teach an introductory course on Evolutionary Biology. Here is what I had in mind: Part I: What is Evolution -what are the separate theories that make up the modern concept of evolution? -what is the evidence? Part II: How are evolutionary change and adaptation explained? -How and why does evolution take place? -Natural Selection -Natural selection and adaptation Part III: Origin and evolution of bio-diversity -defining species -speciation Part IV: Evolutionary Biology present and future -Summarize main aspects of current concept of evolution -highlight areas of disagreement or contention -discussion on implications of evolutionary theory -materials for learning more about evolution. I will be basing the material for this course on the accepted authorities including Ernst Mayr, Steven J. Gould, Richard Dawkins, Maynard Smith, and others. Though I do not have a degree in evolutionary biology I do have a degree in behavioral science which involved studying several courses relating to evolution. Any interest?
