Anybody out there still playing Morrowind? Just started myself very difficult game when compaired to Skyrim. If anybody wants to chat about past adventures, or give pointers for anyone else playing, let this be the place.

it was kinda hard for me to get into to it at first because of the graphics, especially after playing Skyrim for so long, but the more I play it the easier it seems to view it.

this is possibly my favorite game of all time. unfortunately, my xbox died a couple years ago and i wasn't going to buy a new one just for this one game, so i haven't been able to play it recently.

my favorite was definitely to play as a mage. partially because the telvanni were so fucking cool, but also because the actual gameplay is just so much funner that way. for one thing, teleportation really comes in handy. especially since fast travel was actually done in a realistic way back then, rather than just pointing to any location on the map and appearing there like they do now. and battle is great once you get powerful enough. enemy appears, you just fly up in the sky out of its reach, summon some daedra to fight it for you, and throw fireballs on it from up in the air.

if you want to level up efficiently, you need to do so very deliberately. when creating your character, make sure most of your major/minor skills are skills that you aren't going to use terribly often so that you are unlikely to level up accidentally in the course of gameplay. after each level up, write down the stats for all of your skills. then make sure to practice your non-major/minor skills so that they level up enough so that you have 3 attributes with a 5x multiplier at level up (only two are needed if you are doing luck). but don't practice those skills too much so that they are all already maxed out before your attributes are. if you're doing a physical character, max out your endurance as early as possible, because it affects how much health you gain at each level up so the sooner you max it the more total health you will end up with.

i have other tips i'm sure, but this post is nearing tldr status, so that's good for now.

thank you for the great advice iminmyunderwear. i haven't gotten to far into the game yet, after playing i think i might have to rebuild my character to better suit my gaming strategies. i decided to go with a dunmer mage class. i didnt really put much thought into it. i found that you really have to put alot more thought into everything, very much unlike skrim, hell i was level 30 before i started a single quest lol. oh and i might sound like a dumbass here but what does tldr status mean?

yeah, after morrowind they started dumbing everything down so they could appeal to a wider audience. sure, skyrim's fun, but it just doesn't have that addictive factor that a more in-depth game like morrowind does.

tldr = too long, didn't read

Morrowind was a truly vast game, and from what I understand the previous two were much larger. I played Morrowind at length but never played the story, I only spent the game wandering and stealing and just seeing the crazy random shit all over the world. It was the kind of game that just felt like it never ran out of secrets and intricacies.

i think the original elder scrolls had the entire continent. but from what i've read that game just sounds too dated to really be fun at this point.

morrowind was the first one i played, never even heard of the series until that one.

I have Morrowind but do not get many chances to play it because the teenagers in my house take over the gaming consoles. When I do get a chance to play I have been playing Minecraft and Skyrim more.

ahhh minecraft, now thats a fun game, it seems that most xbox owners are playing only those two games right now. i have the misfortune of only owning a xbox original right now:( so morrowind is the game for me to play right now

I can't get into it anymore either but I played it when it was just new and the graphics for Morrowind then were considered pretty good  So when I played it I also really enjoyed it because of the topnotch graphics :D I have never finished the main quest but have spend many many hours on it as well on a lot of side quests.

Yes it is. Morrowind's graphics and gameplay is still very much tolerable but I tried Daggerfall when I got into Morrowind and it was already a very dated game back then...

alright I have been playing morrowind for about three weeks now, used to the graphics, which were topnotch for its time, i find it to be a much better game than skrim personally. I'm not saying it for everyone but the difficulty of it makes it addicting. you have a much better ability to do whatever you want, more so than skrim, i think that skrim (other than its graphic) is but a shodow of morrowind in a sense.

My son loves Morrowind as much as you. He is the person that owns the games in my house. He plays Skyrim and he also plays Oblivion. Lately he has not had much time for the games because he is involved with a play right now and busy with his art. he goes through phases where he plays video games for a few months and then gets distracted by other things like books, theater and art. These days he has discovered audio books and he listens to them when he plays his games.

I have Morrowind running on my xbox 360, more games are being added to the backward compatible list, morrowind is one of them!

I love the lore much more in Morrowind. I have a bias for all the mer, particularly the elves. My only real beef with Morrowind was the combat system, I hate how you can't tell if your enemy is being damaged, it made it scary! I love the towns though, it was very fantasy. Skyrim feels like it could be very real. I play skyrim more often though

And are you looking at Elder Scrolls Onilne? You CAN go all over tamriel! Skyrim and morrowind included!

I really couldn't get into it after playing Skyrim. Skyrim is my shit though, my favorite, I can play for days. I should try to get into Morrowind again, even if just for the change of game scenery ya know.

I really dig how the 'skills' and stuff are in Morrowind. I hope that the next Elder Scrolls can do something more like that than Skyrim.

I don't do the main quests in these games. Everything else is much more interesting.

yeah, i don't think i've ever gotten more than halfway through an elder scrolls main quest.

although i did finish the main quests in bloodmoon and the other morrowind expansion (i forget what it was called).
