It's almost hard to remember, but I took some Purple Dragon in 1979 that changed my life. Not sure it was for the better. ;) But the magical carpet rides I took, I wouldn't trade for anything.

in 73 i was sitting in our local hippie-hang-out park, lotsa people strumming guitars..my friend told me to open my mouth, i did ...and, well....hours and hours later i was still tripping and i DIDN'T want to be. I wanted to come down. In a bad way. I am not cut out for acid. I didn't like what it did to me. All my sensory skills were cross-wired. For instance, If i pulled my hair, I couldn't feel it, but, I could HEAR it. like it was making a high pitched violin note.. same night, we went to a friends hippie farm house. A local band lived there and they had a piano there, i play, so i went to sit down and play and instead of hearing the notes i SAW the notes coming out of the piano like big, fat, cartoon notes. like pink and yellow cartoon treble cleffs and bass clefs and notes. that was crazy. then, to top it all off, a pig went trotting by me as i was looking in awe at the cartoon notes. FREAK ME OUT. the, pig, however was real. whew. one of the guys in the band had a pet pig named Arnold. Near the end of the trip i became very paranoid and looked in the mirror and it was talking and my face was melting and every pore looked HUGE. i didn't like it. I would go on to do it once more, in FLA. and then, i decided i don't like the stuff. Acid and I don't get along. blah.

Mr. Natural was good, but the best that came through the Haight in the '70s imo was the Sandoz pharm on Swedish cough drops in the early '7os. Also good were the Grateful Dead blotters of Stanley Owsley.

Did quite a bit in the late 60s and early/mid 70s - everything from Strawberry Shortcake , orange barrels, orange sunshine, blotter, chocolate chip, window pane, and on and on took a break for a year here or there but did dozens of trips then and a few shrooms and some mescasline and a bit of peyote some baby woodrose seeds............lotsa stuff then but I wouldn't touch it now.......... a bit too much for the head .......... I'll stick to herb.........:sunny:

    Red Dragon blotter

The first time I tripped was in June of 1978, on one-third of a dose of what was called red dragon blotter. I never saw more than my own dose, but it had some red lines on it, supposedly part of a larger dragon. It also had crosses to mark the corners. There was supposedly an identical "green dragon" version as well.

It's probably the one numbered 1400 here:

    http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_blotter_microgram_1987.pdf

The dosage measured by the DEA lab as indicated in the link was only 35 to 54 micrograms per square. But a mere third of a hit changed my world. Is that the stuff you're talking about?

Loved the purple microdot circa 1980-81 too, yum.

Compared to the early 70's 4-way windowpane, which were definitely 4-way , the Red Dragon acid was pretty strong, each individual hit had a dragon as well as a large dragon on the hundred lot.

Later the green and the red were just as you described, one large dragon on the lot, and I never felt they were nearly as strong.

Purple 'dots in 1974 were damn strong. (50 cents a hit too!)

By the 80's dosage was extremely unreliable, in my area anyway

by the 90's most of the acid I did was weak as hell.

White Barrels back in the day were unquestionably strong, some now believe they may have been DOM or STP

3 hits of clear windowpane one night in 1968. Sometimes it feels like it may have been yesterday. Best 9 bucks I ever spent.

The chocolate and strawberry mescaline weren't mescaline at all most likely. I also remember them, and the active amount of mescaline that you need for an experience is far more than what was put in that chocolate powder. It would be interesting to find out exactly what that was though. I agree with the purple microdots, always were great quality back then.
