Headin' out hitchin'/travellin' again, anyone want to come?

It's because you are still in "guest" status. You have to have so many post before they let you move up to member status. I think its something like 20. I just commented on every post I could find to get moved up. If you ever come through Illinois let me know. I might just hook up with ya !

I've been giving it some thought about giving this a try. Hell...I'm not getting any younger so if I'm ever going to do it I guess I better get at it. I'm thinking about this spring after it starts to warm up again. Illinois winters aren't much fun and probably not a good time to take off. How do you go about finding places to stay ? I seen the places you have listed as to the places you stay but do you research places out before you go and reach out and make connections first ?

The place in kentucky I stayed at I had researched before hand and had been talking to the owners for awhile. Other than that I just end up places. If your looking to go from community/commune/farm/whatever then I would definetly talk to them ahead time rather than just showing up

 

So like, before you leave one place, or before you start heading to a specific place, just give them an email or a call, tell them about yourself and learn about them.
Have you ever looked into going to Asheville, NC?

Tons of different kinds of travellers. definetly a good starting place

I wouldnt classify myself as a 'commune dude', lol. I like towns/cities just as much. I really just like travelling and being in all different kinds of places
