Im a fan! Just watched the documentary Magic Trip that was about Kesey, Further, and the Pranksters just the other day.

 

It explains pretty much how L got popularized and is a great book about the era. The cool-aid tests had ended before I got any,even tho I lived in Santa Cruz part of that time.

The Keseys presently promote concerts here in Eugene-Springfield.

34+/- years ago for me, but Nancy's Yogurt is fairly widely available on the West Coast.

Oh yeah. I think I made one post in there early on,got side tracked and never came back. Guess I should check back in ,but you folks are probably quite settled by now. You get a roof leak--you know who to call!

 

LOL It's a magic roof on a magic house you can drop in, stay and not worry about having to work. I've noticed four or five new faces this week. It flows!

There's a coffee roaster in the kitchen at the HH house. We had a whole discussion about which one to get...

Great book, it is a realistic and creative not to mention very up front and personal depiction of the time and happening to me (wish I could've been there more than anything but have to deal with this time) I'm only 23 years old as opposed to 73 or 67, however I'm hoping and am faithful that people (at least some) feel the same way as myself and would like to understand themselves and the time a bit better then what's given to us so easily (and fed to us so subconsciously)
It's sad to me that so many people of this age are so willing to be closed minded to the unknown. To furthur themselves.
So unwilling to explore the mind and the magic like those of you in other eras. I'm not saying that this era is completely out of reach or beyond hope, because I'd just be a fool and coward to believe that, however when did the cool thing become making greed and ignorance your top priority? Living up to everyone else's standards as opposed to your own? Or making your own standards fit with everyone else's?
That was one of the most radical things about the 60s, and one of the reasons I enjoy the people in this life that I do, the fact that certain beings do not consist of the bland ingredients of society, but the FEELINGS they live.
LSD invokes feelings to the intensity of no other, and that's why so many fear it. Some don't know how to deal with these inexperienced feelings and are too afraid to confront them. What the hell happened to the generation of confrontation?
Anything is possible if we truly believe it to be, so to those out there who are of the age to create belief, where the fuck is your will to be weird?

 

It is one of my all time faves. Wolfe seems to have captured the vibe of the time though many of the "facts" were apparently invented to make a good story. Leary's supposed refusal to even meet the Pranksters for instance (there are photos of him inside The Bus). "Cloud" is probably my favorite chapter.

 

know from personal experience they were closely conected. pipes my family made on L's family mantel in '70s....
