Why don't humans have one time zone apply to the entire globe?

Isn't it pure bull that earth has all these different time zones?

I am not sure how to properly answer to this, but I will try with something like that:

Oh my god, how one could be possibly so stupid?

It would be really weird to have the sun coming up at 10:30 at night, wouldn't it?

Standard time zones were put into place when trains became the main mode of travel. Before that, noon was simply when the sky was directly overhead at any given place. It was too confusing for the train schedules so they adopted standard time zones based on a 24 hour day.

Uncle John's bathroom reader sure comes in handy sometimes :D

One time zone? So when it's 12 midnight where I am,it should be 12 midnight on the other side of the globe at the same time? WTF?

When we eventually destroy the Earth and have to live on giant space stations somewhere out in the vacuum of space, will we still live by the same 24-hour time schedule? Maybe then War John's dream will come true, and all space stations will live with the exact same time zone.

    Along these same lines...

Originally, the Americas and Europe had like a zillion time zones (no, seriously, I think America had 15 or something like that), so there were many train crashes because no one had their times right :D

time zones are made so that no matter where you are on the globe, at 12 o clock the sun willl be directly over head.. each time zone is 15 degrees across the globe from the last however many areas change the time zone border to make it easier on them

i suppose it wouldn't be if that's how it had always been.

probably would just call it 10:30 pm rather than 10:30 at night in that case.
