I have a feeling that right now, if everybody's "net worth" were added together (world wide) it would far exceed the resources that this planet contains. In other words there is no way to cover all this fake "money" that we have right now. Collapse will occur once this concept is realized by the masses... or rather those with huge holdings. The whole "Global Economy" is smoke and mirrors. To the poor it won't mean that much, to the uber-rich their world will come crashing down in a hurry.
Feudalism works even without legal tender currency. Whoever controls the land owns the society that depends upon it.
Two answers: (1) They are so invested in the current Game that they have a blind spot which prevents them from seeing that eventuality is possible OR (2) They're hoping to get theirs and be dead by the time it happens.
well we are the biggest and strongest virus on earth . we always take take take from earth . some must die . it is nature process . many millions people must die (because of this system) .
The people running the world don't give a shit because they're blinded by greed. They're short sighted. And the rest of us would really be unwise to sit around and wait for them to take charge and fix things. This is a time for personal responsibility. Not because of any MIT prediction, but because anyone with half a brain can see that the current system is failing. It is not a doomsday prediction. It is not the apocalypse or the end of the world. It is simply a failure of the current system. I don't think of it as a huge deal. It will inevitably lead to a population decline among those that are unprepared. However, my grandparents' generation had the skills and knowledge to survive something like this. Its not that far fetched for this generation to figure out how to survive this. All it takes is learning and preparation.
I'll wait for a consensus of this view, one professor spouting off doomsday prediction isn't going to convince me. MIT or not, Dr. Turner is one person and plus there is this "claiming could suffer from a "global economic collapse" and "precipitous population decline" if people continue to consume the world's resources at the current pace is still on track" and "Correction: This post has been edited to reflect that MIT has not updated its research from the original 1972 study." So there is no certainty of economic world collapse nor has there been any update or traction on this study for 40 years, you would think the impending economic doom of the world would get a news spot or at least a book. My $.02
Meh,,, they have yet to add my variables to their equation. Give em' a minute to catch up to my speed. :cheers2:
do you have any clue how many people live underground, in the amazon for one. the elite which consist of tens of thousands of people have their underground bases made
This article has very little to do with MIT, and a lot to do with an UNNAMED Australian researcher's findings that the MIT study is supposedly still accurate. Read the first paragraph. Very deceiving article. I believe it falls into your category of stuff that shouldn't bother you.
Considering the economic growth in China, MIT's being optimistic with 2030! That's a huge correction! Who gives a damn about a 40 year old study? That wasn't clear yesterday, but it is today, after some heavy editing. This is bad journalism! I'll bet somebody got a nasty phone call from one of MIT's lawyers. Absolutely. It's one man's opinion. So...they haven't updated their study. Well, they need to. It's a huge deal for me. Two of my grandparents were farmers, growing up in a backwards farming community where nobody needed much of anything from the outside world. The crash of 1929 barely touched that small community. But their quality of life expectations were very low. They didn't expect to ever have nonessential things. They didn't aspire to travel. They couldn't eat in restaurants because it wasn't free. Art, music, literature, and culture were of limited value because you couldn't eat them. If you got a toothache, you pulled the tooth out with a pair of pliers, and if you got very sick, you died. They accepted this as the natural order of things. Their hope was for the next life, with Jesus in heaven. I'm not going down that road, no matter what. For me, the issue is death of the soul vs. death of the body.
