Aren't bookstores & libraries grand?

Man, I just love them. I've really gotten into reading lately and spent a lot of time at a bookstore, just gazing & gazing at books. Flipping through some, reading excerpts.

So many books I wanna read. And I've got several at my house I'm trying ot finish before I buy more (or get from a library).

Mhmm, just wanted to share that I love books, reading, and lookin' at books!

I love the smell of a bookstore. Libraries are even better, there's a lot more books and you don't pay to take out books.

I have a coupe books sitting on my shelf that I have been meaning to read, I always seem to read the first few pages but never get into them till about the 5th or 6th time. Then I get completely sucked in and practically read the whole book in a day. Weird huh?

I'm 17. Yeah, kinda a shame I think. The feel of a book is much better than a kindle or those type of things (though I see why they can be quite handy).

Man, I got so many books on my shelf I wanna read. Hard to finish the ones I am reading sometimes. Ha, Bonzai that is strange...but people are strange....and books are strange as well. Think we all got weird reading patterns. Some books suck me in, others don't. Some do for a while then I switch & read another book. Alas...

Books smell great! My friend always throws his nose in a book and takes a whiff. I was at this used bookstore, it was cool cause it had library vibe, but it was a store. Which I guess is a bit of a downside, payin' money & all...but man. There are just so many books.

I would hate it if technology completely takes over and book stores all go out of business.

    Dude agreed!
    Be horrible.
It's nice to not look at a screen all the time.

I had a huuuuge book collection at one time. I was a complete book hoarder (or information hoarder).
Now I have a reasonable collection and a kindle app.

But really? There is nothing better than the smell of a used bookstore!

I find kindle useful for travel and middle of the night reading, but I still have attachment to holding a paper book.

I have a copy of a book that quotes me heavily. That is pretty cool to have as a hard copy. So are most of my bodywork texts, or cookbooks.

But I can get a fair number of books in the public domain for free, so that is attractive, as well.

I think its safe to say that it will never happen in our life time. But if so, give me a yell I assure you I will get them black market/underground. ;)

My guess is that the printed book will become a snob item again, and used bookstores will be the lions.

One of the things I like about electronic distribution is the DIY aspect. In music and publishing, you can get your work out there without the gatekeepers of traditional publishing.

On the other hand, there are benefits like analog sound and the tactile side of books, and not needing charged batteries.
My homesteading books have kept their places on my shelves.

I think I prefer libraries above bookstores. But some second hand bookstores can be really nice. Not just because I'm a cheapskate :p but because there's often an even nicer atmosphere in my opinion.

I get books at St Vincent, Goodwill, used book stores--(a giant one here in Eugene is the Smith bookstore--HUGE) and libraries. I'm not gonna' buy a machine to read stories on. I have one book from 1865--imagine all the people that have held it and the places that that book has been since then.

its great that you have got into reading and most of all spending times in bookshops, i love book shops. i swear i am keeping my local two book shops in business :D with the amount i spend in them. i used to bunk of school and go up to the big book shops in London. i would spend hours in there. i don't like buying books online. i do. if i cant get them at my bookstore. i really dislike e books as well.
