In my dream, I guess the sun was shrinking. Earth can't sustain life without the sun, so I came up with a temporary plan to keep the sunlight hitting the Earth by way of a giant mirror that we can move to bounce the light and magnify it so we can continue to live for a little longer. It was fucking weird. I don't think that mirror thing would work for real, nor do I think the sun would shrink. I thought the sun was expanding? The thing I remember the most about the dream is the pure terror and anxiety I felt knowing we were going to die soon. It was awful.
I think the various dreams were just different times during the same devastation, In other words not a repetitive dream, I was doing different things, locations were not identical but in the same area..... I was 8 when I had the first dream. I saw the bombs go off, and the aftermath. Anyways, the destruction began with war but the Earth reacted in ways to rid herself of the problem...... earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, etc. etc. Ever seen a fire elemental? There were several of those. Just basic havoc with lots of wounded and scared people....... Similar to the "movies" but check my age <<< I was having these dreams before most of that type of movie was produced. Still do on occasion when I dream at all. Odd thing is in all of these dreams there was "someone" with me, but I never saw this person.... Kinda hard to explain. Like it was more of a presence, we communicated, helped each other, but it was like the person was always just behind me. Don't even know if it was male or female. Weird to watch peoples reactions to that kind of stuff because the world as we knew it is gone totally, but they are still acting like the hospital is still functioning, or the government is going to rescue them.... I saw one guy frantically trying to get cash out of an ATM.... like that's going to save him somehow when that life is gone...... Anyways, don't mean to steal your thread, but you asked. Seems to me that the sun shrinking would be scary, but it's more of a slow deal, some things are still functioning and whatnot....... but you know the end is coming all anyone can do is wait it out.
i've read plenty of scenarios in this kind of context, some pure fantasy, some based on scientific fact. not likely the sun actually undergoing such changes while there is still a human species to observe it. these things take place on a somewhat larger time scale then all of life as has ever existed on this planet. yet the earth, could, be knocked from its orbit, with sufficient force, by some catistrophic astronomic event, and thus in moving away from the sun, having the effect of its shrinking. and the thing with the mirrors, has indeed been suggested in such stories. i'm not so sure humanity, or even the web of life, would survive such an event, but what the hey, it does make a somewhat plausible context for epic story telling. himm, i seem to remember a story called "bucket of air", in one of ellison's dangerous vision anthologies.
It's easy to interpret this dream for you principessa. Your whole dream was a gigantic metaphor for your deep seated on again off again love for pancakes. The sun represents your overall love for pancakes, and you notice as you get older that love has shrunk considerably. This begins to make you panic so the mirror is a metaphor for adding extra syrup and powdered sugar to help strengthen the taste you loved as a child. deep down in your mind though you know that you can't sustain a healthy figure eating like that, so the "sun" of your life will slowly shrink and fade no matter how strong the "mirror" you use... until you're left cold and shivering eating bran flakes...
any religious apocalyps refers allegorically to events which already took place more then 150 years ago, and it will be another 850 before the next one comes along. one or more 'near extinction events' (of a NOT religious nature) for the species humanity, COULD take place anywhere along in there. these could happen and then be over, with in the next hundred years or so, or even the next very few decades. (but there is no "inevitable" requirement for them to do so. only the cause and effect of too many of us relying too much on sources of atmospheric carbon for transportation and electrical energy)
At this point not really, the dream took place a while ago. I wish I could remember more. It really kind of disturbed me for a few days.
