who does not know the bob marley song:no woman no cry?the famous yard where they cook the cornmeal porridge and make the logs burn through the night can be visited in the ghetto of trenchtown and it is a very emotional place cause it is like you are finally entering the song! this place called :culture yard is a open yard with around it a few little rooms the governments used to rent to people in these times and in the middle of the yard there is the old volkswagen minibus that bob used to own ..the community of trenchtown is nowadays taking care of this place and it has a label: jamaican heritage trust.. they plan to put up some rooms for guests in the same street and they rent in that same yard a very small room at the back for who wants to live the trenchtown experience..nowadays these kind of places are not dangerous and close to trechtown there is an unbelievable big market on saturdays morning it is amazing all the peasants of the islands are flocking there to sell their goods this is a major key to understand rural jamaica!i really recommand the visit of kingston this is a nice city full of trees and colours and undiscipline a very real and surprising city a very interesting place.. maybe at nights it is not recommended to go to certain places but in daylight you can go anywhere especially downtown that is a very commercial area where everybody goes all you may fear is a few pickpockets and people are less harassing than in some resort cities!really the government yard in trenchtown is a must see in jamaica!
