I was just under 3. My sister was born and I was in the bedroom with her as she woke up and her umbilical cord came off. I was hysterical as I thought I broke her.

I am not sure if I remember because of the trauma.

Around the same time I remember getting my hamster named Goldie, she was a red teddy bear hamster.

I have a couple of images in my head of being in my crib, arriving at our new home when I was 4 years old, and coming down the stairs at the age of 5 with the song Babe (by styxx) playing on the record player :2thumbsup:

I like playing with memories.. one that has just come to me few days ago. as ive found a picture of my cousin he looks like a gaint standing next to me , im 3yrs old.. I can now remember seeing time then. but I can only pic up pieces of it.. in this picture there is a house in the background and its probably how I focused in because the home had been torn down later. but I kept trying to think who was in that house , and it is now my earliest memory of something.

one of my earliest memories for some reason is of my mom asking me if I wanted my broccoli raw or cooked, then I was three or four.. also being on an army base visiting my parents friends, and their son convinced me to go to the store for candy, I was scared and then an army guy smiled at me in the store and it terrified me. Another one I had to have been no more than 3 standing on my tippie toes playing a Super Mario arcade machine in my parents friends basment, the original one too, man that was sweet.

I Guess I Must Have Been Around 3, My Cousin Gail 4 And My Aunt Drove Up From

Sydney To Visit, So I Got Scrubbed In The Tub, And Put On Neat Freshly Ironed Clothes.

When They Arrived We All Went Outside To Greet Them, And When I Was Introduced

To My Cousin Who I Had Never Met...I WET MY PANTS....[IMG].

To This Day I Remain Traumatised By That Unfortunate Event In My Life...[IMG].

    Cheers Glen.

When I was being educated in college we were asked this same question.

My first memory was pelting a kid on the school yard with stones and then being sang a song after recess on why we don't hurt people.

After everyone shared their first memories we were told that a study was done linking your first memory to the theme of your life.

Being in the garden with my Dad at around three ears old. It was fall because the cornstalks were brown.

I also have hazy memories of trying to draw the cartoons I saw on TV...Foghorn Leghorn was my favorite. This could be around the same time...Mom says I could draw fairly well around the age of two. Says I just picked up a pencil one day and drew a chicken.

One of my earliest memories was of the riots in the late 60's. I remember there being a 5 or 6 o'clock curfew. My brother and I were in our room watching the fires burn in the distance, maybe 10 blocks away, when a police car and another car went flying down the road in front of our house shoting at each other.

    November 22 1963 -
I was lay down in front of the fire, watching the Black and white TV set in the cottage flat of my Aunts' house.
The words from my Mother "Oh my god- he's been shot"! =
Still, so vivid in my memory.

People usually can't remember anything before the age of 3.

My first memory was zooming around on my tricycle on the brick floors of my house when I was 3-4years old.

I can remember as far back as about 3 years old. I remember my dog and he died before I turned 4 (I remember that, too) and I remember bits and pieces of going to Colorado with my aunt and uncle and cousin when I was 3. My cousin stuck his hand in a waterfall and pulled out a dead fish and I thought it was so cool.

I can. My two earliest memories are both of my grandpa. I was two and it was Christmas, my whole family (cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.) were all there and we all gathered in my aunt's living room before dinner. My mom was holding me, my dad was taking the picture (he was a photographer). My mom passed me to my grandpa who scared me. He had had cancer at that point and he was very large but very gaunt. His eyes were sunken and he had very dark circles around them, his skin was yellowish. He picked me up under the armpits and his long boney fingers cut into my sides and he looked me real close in the face and said "be quiet!" He was a really angry/abusive man, his kids are pretty sure he was bi-polar.

Anyways I started balling and my dad asked me to please be quiet and smile for just a second so he could take the picture. I didn't, I cried hard because my grandpa's fingers were hurting me and people kept telling me to be quiet. Bastards lol

My second memory is about a year later, I was two or three. My grandpa invested his money into a smaller house for his wife for when he died, they had owned a farm. My mom and I walked into their new house one sunday after church, it had ugly green walls with a fireplace with brick around it, dark-orangish carpet. My mom walked into the kitchen to make lunch with her mom and I stared into the fireplace, I had never seen one before and wondered what the black thing in it was. I turned around and my grandpa was just sitting on one side of the couch, staring straight ahead. Something he apparently did all the time. He was wearing brown pants and a white dress shirt with his sleeves rolled up and a pipe and pen in the breast pocket. I walked in front of him and he stared at me and I stared back for a little bit, then he turned and looked out the window. I went and sat on the couch with a bit of space between us and he just continued to stare out the window. He died later that year.

    you guys have great memories!
do you all notice a lot of difference between really early memories and recent ones? besides detail - do they feel any different??

and are you guys able to recall things very easily? like recall on command easily?
sort of like searching through your memories... i know friends who say they do that...

i don't really remember anything before i was like 9 or 10... haha. my memory is terrible!
