so two years later i'll jump in and say yeah....the doors are possibly the greatest band of all time...and certainly one of the most unique. the way the songs became almost living, breathing entities when they were on stage still blows me away. and i believe it took all four of them to make that happen. take any one of those pcs out of the mix and it's not even close.....listen to the way they made morisson's words come to life....

thanks for those... i hadnt seen either one. And i have just about all the video footage that there is on the doors.

 

i ve been a long time fan like yourself.....i can remember my father bringing home the first doors recording ...on reel to reel tape , no less.. lol.

yeah but how else COULD it end? i think he had to go out that way...his desire to "live" , killed him i guess...

 

Could have end 100 different ways. The doors did not end when Morrison died, not saying dying slowly should be less tragic... Although Eye of the sun rocks

dont get me wrong... i dont think for a second that morisson was the doors. it took all four of them ...you take any of them out and its not the doors....not even close....they were all unique musicians...
its just my feeling that his lust for life caused him to burn out sooner than we all would have liked....

 

I think In the eye of the sun is a typical doors song, doesn't bother me one second that Morrison isn't on it. I think it's Manzarek who's singing. Unfortunately this song is an exception but still.

 

yeah, they made good music after him..but just not the same....for me anyway...

yeah that was ray on vocals .. he filled in when morisson was too messed up to sing (there was a concert in europe where he was unable to sing and ray did the whole set, )

 

Haha yeah, it was in the Netherlands. He went on stage when Jefferson Airplane played before them and fell off. Only time he was about to perform in the Netherlands as well, a bit of a shame really. Happily it was before my time so I can just laugh about it
