Hey gang, So I've officially been converted from chemical dyes to henna. I have been dying my hair for years, and wanted to stop relying on damaging box dyes to attain a vibrant red. Therefore, this week, I decided to give in to my curiosity and henna my hair. I used 2/3 henna 1/3 conditioner, 50/50 lemon juice/chamomile tea, a pinch of paprika for good luck (hoping my color would turn out as pretty as the color of paprika), some rose oil for fragrance and hydration... plopped some on my brows and in my hair for an hour, rinsed and was in love! Here are some before and after shots: Before: Right after rinsing (very bright, but the oxidation will deepen it): The next morning (already deepening a bit): I am so impressed with henna! My hair is like silk too. No more chemicals for me! I was curious to see if there were other henna/cassia/indigo heads out there. I'd love to see photos! It does miraculous things to your hair!
I got a henna tattoo once. But I never though if dying my hair that way. Henna actually smells like hair dye anyways, I figured it was similar. Lol.
Henna is the only thing I will use on my hair, it always comes out beautifully. Your colour looks lovely
i've used henna many times before but the last two times i did.. it didn't take at all. not sure what i did wrong. i like the way it makes me hair feel more than the chemical junk does. i like the more natural look of it too. you look fabulous!
hhhmm.. i don't even remember now.. google says its called "natural expressions" it's 100% henna. i'm just thinking i missed a step or something.. probably didn't leave it on long enough or my hair was too clean.
Thank you kindly. Any other henna photos? I love how the color turns different on everyone... and absolutely LOVE that we're actually making our hair happy. No chemicals at all. I let my hair oxidize for almost a week, and it settled at an orange copper. As much as I liked it, I was shooting for more of a scarlet persimmon. So today, I released what I had left of my henna, applied it for two hours, and success! Here is a photo of right after the 1st henna, and right after the 2nd:
i found this : http://www.hennaforhair.com/mixes/ and thought it was interesting.. all the different ways and hair types.. you've inspired me to try again! so tomorrow i'll be hennaing this head of mine.
Excellent, Boogabaah! Yes, that's the site I studied before hennaing my hair. The discussion forum is great too. they answered every last question I had about the process. It's been almost a week since my last treatment, and my hair is like silk! I'll never rely on chemicals again!
ha! cool! i did mine saturday and it turned out great this time. i mixed it up the night before and put it on my hair first thing in the morning. i let it sit for four hours. it's much darker that i expected, but thats just fine with me. i'll try for some decent sunlight pictures tomorrow.
i used this brand .. http://www.light-mountain-hair-color.com/ their bright red kind. but did not follow their directions. mixed it up the night before, added a little apple cider vinegar and turmeric to it.
