    I'm 60 next month.
    I have 11 guitars,2 motorcycles,2 cars and a collection of rescued animals.
NONE of that would've been possible when I was younger.
BUT-home is paid for, ditto vehicles and NEVER had a credit card.
    I'm not rich,not by a LONG way...but I'm free of financial concerns.
No need to 'aquire',no need to think 'career'. Been there, done that.
    So I go to work,earn a wage....and spend/save/play with it.
Usual stuff like food and utilities, but no worrying about mortages and loans.
    Yep-being older RULES.
I'm past being told to act my age....I do act my age.
    because........
On the outside,I'm about to be 60.
    On the inside,well,inside I'm nearly 11.

And the BEST bit about being older? - You don't give a SHIT what anyone thinks of you.

I will. I'm also starting an Urban Culture For Autism Awareness non-profit using skateboarding, graffiti art etc. as therapies for autism. I also just started skateboarding again using it as a way to try fix a bad back, weak ankle and as neurochemical mind expansion.

Advice for dealing with Middle Age?
Middle age? Thanks for that, - As a 54 year Olde Hippie = on a downward slope it seems LOL
The way I see it, As was 'back in the day', "Age is no barrier for interaction" - Young, Old, mixed of various levels - I wouldn't get uptight on what others view you - live within 'one's own moments', go with life's flow and Enjoy! :)

Rev.. 34 is middle age? Fuck that.. you are still a kid.

I'm 63 and I don't think I've hit middle age yet. If I have, I refuse to acknowledge it. I agree with Puggybear... I'm able to do things now that I could only dream about when I was in my 30's....

I'll be turning 60 in a couple of months and I've decided to make the sixties my best decade yet.

This is what I'm hoping for. I'm 39 and I've noticed that life seems to get better. Maybe part of it is my attitude towards life evolving but every 10 years have better than the prior 10. I loved my 20's but would easily take my 30's (esp late 30's) over my 20's any day. So I'm going to be 40 in March and I'm happier and in better shape physically, mentally and financially than I was when I was 20 or 30. My 40's are going to rock! Plus...in my own mind, I don't feel any older than when I was 18...just wiser. I figure my 60's should be awesome!

    Hey Now Rev JC,
There's something I don't think anyone ever addressed - your family history of relatively early death. I have exactly the same family history (lot of cancer and heart disease, lot of lifestyle issues). But I've been fairly health-conscious over the years, getting some exercise, staying fairly slim, not smoking except for herb, no heavy drinking (actually not at all), and lol, using fiber every day. Now I'm 70 and feeling pretty good. The point being, there is reason to believe that behavior can be a greater factor than family history in a long, good life.

Well I just turned 39 last week. My family usually dies around 70 to 80. I just look at the whole thing about calling 50 middle age as "Who the fuck lives to be 100!" I sure as fuck don't want to.

You really shouldn't put too much thought into family history of dying at early ages. The more thought you put into it the more likely you will bring about the eventuality of it. People can really think themselves to death by putting into motion the events that will cause the death itself.
