What are some of your suggestions for good blues music to check out? Lately I've been getting into more and more blues, and I'm interested in checking out some more. Some of the things I've been getting into are: ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Grateful Dead (Only partially blues though). So yeah, does anyone have any suggestions on some good blues to check out?
:cheers2: Gary Moore Roy Buchanan Charlie Musselwhite Alligator Records has some really good blues artist's check them out! http://www.alligator.com/
Charlie Musselwhite's debut is one of my favourite blues albums! The guitar and harmonica are just fucking awesome, ah well just like the organ actually I'd also recommend Johnny Winter for a little blues rocking a la Hendrix :cheers2:
I recently ran into that name of the guitarist on Musselwhite's debut (never even wandered of who that might be before ) and I'm really getting into some of his solo albums now as well His name is Harvey Mandel, the organ player is Barry Goldberg by the way and did some amazing groovy stuff with for example Mike Bloomfield. Same story with Junior Wells. I mean Buddy Guy is great but after I heard Earl Hooker's solo stuff... that's just how I like it
For newer blues, I would suggest Coco Montoya, Walter Trout, Joe Bonamassa, Chris Duarte, Curtis Salgado, Anthony Gomes, Tinsley Ellis.
Thanks everyone. Just checked out some Buchanan, sounds pretty good I'll check everything else out in the next week. I think I have alot to look forward to. :cheers2:
Ah yes, Roy Buchanan was in my opinion, the best guitarist ever. Too bad he never got the recognition he deserved, and that is most likely what led to hanging himself while in jail on a d&d.
Here's some more that come to my mind. Johnny Lang Kenny Wayne Shepherd Al Kooper and Mike Bloomfield Janis Joplin John Mayall Savoy Brown Frank Marino Siegel Schwall Robin Trower Stevie Ray Vaughn Eric Clapton
Riding with the King: Eric Clapton & BB King <<<< awesome any old eric clapton is good I like ... come on in my kitchen bell bottom blues walkin blues 3 am
Thanks for the suggestions everyone, really enjoying it On a side note, Johnny Winter is coming through town, does anyone know how he is live?
Robert Johnson Muddy Waters Buddy Guy Arthur Crudup Blind Willie McTell Son House Howlin Wolf Taj Mahal Blind Blake
Johnny Winter is excellent live, even still today. He now sits on a chair when he plays, but still one of the better guitarists of our time.
Here is something I forgot I had. Saw these two gents together at the Sand Dollar Blues Lounge here in Las Vegas. Never expected it, they just walked in and started to play. Sure you can guess who they are.
