    Is that your only response?

It's certainly on topic because you've done nothing but try to attack the credibility of hippies in this thread (and me as well).

Again, for the last time, trolling does not go down well with us.

Maybe it's time I get into Troll Patrol mode. (hint: you won't like it)

Remember this forum is not your forum.

No it's not about "forcing memes"

It's about the Force of Memes...

We're not gonna try to force a meme on anyone.

We're going to generate new memes and TEST THEM.

Just like you do with any idea.

Gotta problem with that, then just ignore this thread & forum.

You're somehow of the notion that a meme is something that just happens without volition or consciousness.

That's not how the process starts.

It starts with an idea or concept or even emotion.

Whether it spreads depends upon how successful the meme is at changing consciousness.

The hippie meme was incredibly successful, but then again we had drugs to help change our consciousness, and that opened the meme floodgates...

Read my last edit up above.

    here it is for ya:

That's not how the process starts.

It starts with an idea or concept or even an emotional reaction to an event.

Our lord and father, Al Gore, invented the interbutts, no exeptions.

    End of discusion.

Also, a meme, a true meme, is does not become a meme by the word of one, but by the acceptance of all.

A forced meme is a meme that is born when one self-absorbed individual thinks their meme is infallible and funny, when it is really unfunny, and behaves in a unfunny manner to prevent their shitty meme from taking a one way trip to page 10.

Actually that's not true. We have a LOT of ppl right here under 30.

I have a LOT of hope for Gen Y.

They are not slackers. They are very wired in, tuned in and politically active unlike Gen X.

They have already been exposed to the NEW hippie meme, not the faux meme imposed by Conservatives.

They have direction and enthusiasm. They are socially and environmentally aware. They tend to be much more liberal than their parents.

    Hell, they helped elect OBAMA!

They have their own style & their own language (with lots of subgroups). They are interesting and ready for action.

They are our only hope for the future. If we can't align with them and change the path this species is on, it will all soon be very, very fucked up.

You're only seeing the start of what we predicted would happen back in the 1960s. We were right then, we're right now.

JOIN US! Together, we can make THE DIFFERENCE!

That seems bout right to me. The thing is, no one thinks about it being a meme AT THE TIME. It is only later that it bears fruit and someone says, wow, what a great meme that is!

It's a thought virus that infects our consciousness.

After it enters our consciousness, we test it for ourselves and see how it works. If it doesn't create too much cognitive dissonance with our existing mental contructs it can be absorbed. A powerful meme can destroy existing mental constructs if the new one is strong and reinforced constantly.

That is exactly how Scientology brainwashes people. They replace existing memes with theirs.

You say you can't force memes, but again, if they are reinforced constantly without contradiction, as Scientology does - you're psychologically imprisoned until you absorb them fully, and completely reprogrammed.

It's all code. The code metaphor for life RULZ.

What do you call a bunch of memes that are forced thru cult brainwashing?

    Answer: A meme bath.

Cults bathe newbies in memes. Just as Anonymous has done to us here.

Oh, I can also discuss with you the physiological basis of meme reprogramming, if any care to probe the brain itself with me.

As we know it, being the main point. Planet earth will go on without us very nicely.

I believe this is something in the bones of our generation. I think we saw the future when we opened our minds, and that is what motivated us to make a difference, to change society - the established order of things.

Now as we watch the old social/economic/political order crumble around us we are prayin' for a miracle, baby.

We are watching our common nightmare come to pass. Perhaps it's inevitable, perhaps it's avoidable.

In any case it's up to all of us now to share our memes, and yes invent NEW ONES because that is what can save us.

And YES, WE CAN, if we fight to keep the Internet free from any group's control.

Yes, in this particular case I am identifying a meme for ya, and giving it a name. In this case, it's not the meme that I'm saying is going to "catch on", it already exists. It's the LABEL that will catch on and then suddenly people will see the meme and grok it.

In no way did I mean to imply that I had invented this meme. It's a social phenomenon, just like hippies. But there's a concept behind it that requires more study to understand.

In this case, IBs are a social cohort who share a common experience: Interacting with computers pre-school.

To me cohort theory is a more precise label than generations that don't necessarily share as many life defining experiences.

Labels are very imprecise devises to convey a description about a phenomenon. But they serve to make communication of concepts (transmission of memes) far easier.

Thank you for your understanding. :)
