Sorry to snuff out the piss beer drinkers..... There is a place in my heart for you but I'm not interested in finding out about piss beer. I hope to learn of some new quality beers in this thread. I enjoy: Schneider Weisse (Germany - dark style wheat beer) Hazed and Infused (USA - dry hop ale) Hoegaarden (Belgium - wheat beer) Rodenbach Grand Crue (Flemish Red Ale) Delerium Tremens (Belgium - wheat beer)
This is a tough one... In no particular order it would probably be something like: Bell's Expedition Stout (USA - Imperial Stout) Ayinger Celebrator (Germany - Doppelbock) Unibroue Maudite (Canada - copper-coloured Belgian-style ale) Rochefort 10 (Beglium - Abt/Quad trappist ale) Corsendonk Pater (Belgium - Abbey Dubbel) Given more time I may have chosen a different set of beers. Those ones are really standout ones in my mind for whatever reason. Some are exceptionally good while others may be up there because of fond moments with that particular beer.
1) St. Bernardus Tripel 2) Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier 3) Aventinus Weizenbock 4) Orval 5) Stone Ruination Imperial IPA Runners up.... Ommegang Hennepin Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock Duvel La Fin du Monde Chimay Bleu Mackeson's XXX Old Rasputin Imperial Stout Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout Southern Tier Unearthly Imperial IPA Dogfish Head 90 min. IPA Long Trail Double Bag
Old Rasputin Imperial Stout Maredsous 8 New Belgium's Skinny Dip Fuller's London Porter Lots of McMenamins' beers And for special occasions....Almost any sour Belgian
St-Ambroise oatmeal stout (perfect stout on tap, better then guinness, Quebec, Canada) Innis and guinn (scotland, amazing beer, aged in oak barrels, higher percentage, warm, whisky like finish) steamwhistle that's been sitting around for long enough to go a bit skunky(great skunky/refreshing pilsner, toronto, canada) Tankhouse ale (a highly hopped ale with 5 types of malt for a very complex but well balanced ale, copper in colour, brewed at the mill street brewery in toronto in small batches, canada) Fiddler's elbow (damn good darkish, but not too heavy, flavourful, but not too strongly flavoured beer from England. part of the wychwood collection, all great noteworthy beers.) i could go on and on about beers from different places. best thing in my opinion is to find all the microbreweries in your area and check them all out. people usually put more into those beers then with the monotony of major brewers
ship yard gearys long trail seadog Casco Bay Grittys Sebago sierra nevada ps if you like longtrail be sure to check out ship yard and gearys, two of my all time favorites.
Mmm yum... We just recently got this in at the MLCC here in Manitoba and it is a damn good pale ale. It was still pretty fresh too as it didn't have far to travel so the hop character really stood out. It is probably the freshest pale ale I've had not counting the lousy homebrew I made. We also got the Coffee Porter which isn't too bad either. I still prefer the Tankhouse Ale though. One thing that made me mad was that the MLCC dropped the St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout from their shelves right around the time I turned 18. One of these days I'll have to take a drive out to Kenora to get my hands on some assuming the LCBO stores are not too small compared to the Toronto stores. It is just too hard to narrow my favourites down to only five. If it was broken up into styles I could probably pick my favourites from each style.
this is though... but i'll try. 1) Founder's Brewing Company - Kentucky Breakfast Stout (imperial stout aged in used bourbon barrels) 2) Brasserie Dupont - Foret (organic saison by the makers of saison dupont) 3) Avery Brewing - Maharaja Imperial India Pale Ale 4) Unibroue - Don De Dieu 5) Private Weissbierbrauerei G. Schneider & Sohn GmbH - Aventinus (weizen doppelbock) this was really tough, and there are tons of beers i hate to leave out, and if i did this at a different time i may have chosen different brews, but these are all VERY close to the top of the list!
I tried Brooklyn Reserve #1 recently and it was great. As easy drinking as your average hefeweizen.......but 10% alcohol. strongly recommend it to all.

New favourites: double dog double ipa by flying dog breweries (artwork done by ralph steadman, this 11.5% beer is super hoppy and doesn't taste like it's 11+ percent) Mill Street's traditional ginger beer (ginger beer! brewed in Toronto!) Mad Tom IPA (very hoppy beer, best hop heavy beer in ontario) Rogue's smoked ale annnnnddddd sinha stout
This is really tough... but here goes.. 1) Sleeman Honey Brown Lager 2) Alexander Keith Pale Ale 3) Faxe (A strong 8% danish brew) 4) Granville Island Brewery (Winter Ale!) 5) Moosehead Lager Haha, im Canadian, so im not sure many of you will know some of these brands
