All of these are Michael Franti-quotes, such a hippy I believe that what you sing to the clouds Will rain upon you when your sun has gone away And I believe that what you dream to the moon Will manifest before you rest another day Love is gonna set me free Every flower has the right to be blooming Stay human Because all the freaky people make the beauty of the world Well well well well sunshine and loveliness ain't nobody feeling no ugliness tonight ain't it fine like sippin' sweet Georgie wine see I'm just chillin' with these friends of mine Do you wanna feel freaky and free? Take your time Unwind your mind We all need a little soulshine Every single soul is a poem, written on the back of god's hand Sing on From the language of your ancestors and Sing on Be playful in your innocence and Lift your head up high And rejoice for all you see without your eyes Sing on Like a bird that's makin' love in sunset skies exhale from the heart not from the lungs speak from the heart not from the tongue The harder they hit us, the louder we become Kind of like the skin on the drum What ever happened to the sun? It used to always come Back when we were young we’d sing and party all night long. But seasons don’t ever come on time no more and war paints over the years And anger fills our tears But I know I know I know I’m not alone
Wow beautiful freak i loved those quotes i collect quotes and rarely find ones i like that much thanks
ok so heres a quote i like im not sure who wrote it or if its a hippie quote but its still a good one. I admire the sun. Every evening without complaint, it allows night to engulf it. It sets, in the comfortable knowledge that it will rise the next morning. It puts complete trust in itself and it never has to fear or worry. The sun never worried that the night would take it and never let it run free to play upon our skin and bring light to the places we know and love. The sun was brave.
That's the one I was hoping someone had the mind to mention. What if they gave a war and nobody came?
"On one side you've got a set of values that's doom, death, degradation and despair being dealt out like cards off the bottom of the deck by a grey faced man who hates ya. And on the other side you've got a girl running through a field of flowers, half naked and high and laughing in the sunshine. And if you offer those two alternates to child, a child's too smart to make that mistake, it's not gonna go for that grey faced dude with the cards." - David Crosby
Hey here are some more, not all hippie but they have a hippie spirit No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. ~ Nelson Mandela "This is the way of peace: Overcome evil with good, falsehood with truth, and hatred with love!" Heard this somewhere but cant remember where: "Maybe we can't change the world, but we can try!"
Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose. (Janis Joplin) If no news is good news, bad news will do. (Goose Creek)
A little feeling in my gut that I get of late When I think about these cats running the world with hate I say: something's gotta give - John Butler Trio (Something's Gotta Give) I was reading the newspaper just yesterday Got the headlines reading God bless the USA And I thought: God Bless Everyone - John Butler Trio (Something's Gotta Give) I don’t need a passport to walk on this earth Anywhere I go ’cause I was made of this earth I'm born of this earth, I breathe of this earth And even with the pain I believe in this earth so I wake up every mornin' and I'm steppin' on the floor I wake up every mornin' and I'm steppin' out the door I got faith in the sky, faith in the one faith in the people rockin' underneath the sun 'cause every bit of land is a holy land and every drop of water is a holy water and every single child is a son or a daughter of the one earth mama and the one earth papa -Michael Franti & Spearhead (Hello Bonjour)
"If you judge people, you have no time to love them" -- Mother Theresa "People think love is an emotion. Love is good sense." -- Ken Kesey "Drugs are a bet with your mind" -- Jim Morrision "You can't bomb for a humane reason. What we should do is just Mother Teresa them to death with love. It's that old hippie nonsense but it's still the best stuff there is." -- Ken Kesey "People don't want other people to get high, because if you get high, you might see the falsity of the fabric of the society we live in." -- Ken Kesey "Turn on, Tune in, Drop out" -- Dr.Timothy Leary "And as far as I'm concerned, it's like I say, drugs are not the problem. Other stuff is the problem." -- Jerry Garcia “Take me, I am the drug; take me, I am hallucinogenic” -- I forget who said this
"I'd love to change the world, but I don't know what to do. So I'll leave it up to you."- Ten Years After "I think your atmosphere is hurting my eyes and your concrete mountains are blacking out the skies. Now I don't say that you've been telling me lies, but why do I hear those children's cries?....I see the aeroplanes carrying the bombs. Why, you even find people to drop them on. You know you cant keep what you take by force, but it's only my first impression of course." Five Man Electrical Band "1, 2, 3, 4, we don't want your fucking war"- Country Joe And The Fish
They say- it is better to light a candle than to curse the dark in the eyes of the youth there are question marks like freedom freedom for the mind and soul, we don't see them see them for their worth at all, that’s why we lead em lead em to these wars and what is it we feed em feed em our impurities and who it is we treat em treat em like the enemy humanity will need em need em like the blood we spill and we're freedom freedom for the hearts we fill we mislead em they hunger for the love we give but we cheat em the guys beat him and all he wants is his freedom, so they defeat him, whatever spirit he’s got "beat him" and they teach him the rest of the world don’t need him and he believes in the disease that he’s heathen Put up your fists if all you want is freedom Put up your fists if all you want is - -K'naan
Some quotes by Abbie Hoffman: Revolution is not something fixed in ideology, nor is it something fashioned to a particular decade. It is a perpetual process embedded in the human spirit. You measure a democracy by the freedom it gives its dissidents, not the freedom it gives its assimilated conformists. There is absolutely no greater high than challenging the power structure as a nobody, giving it your all, and winning! I don't think my goals have changed since I was four and I fought schoolyard bullies. It's embarrassing when you try to overthrow the government and you wind up on the Best Seller's List. In the nineteen-sixties, apartheid was driven out of America. Legal segregation - Jim Crow - ended. We didn't end racism, but we ended legal segregation. We ended the idea that you can send a million soldiers ten thousand miles away to fight in a war that people do not support. We ended the idea that women are second-class citizens. Now, it doesn't matter who sits in the Oval Office. But the big battles that were won in that period of civil war and strife you cannot reverse. We were young, we were reckless, arrogant, silly, headstrong...and we were right! I regret nothing! (Closing words from his last speech, Vanderbilt University, April 1989) And finally, his suicide note: It's too late. We can't win. They've gotten too powerful.
