does anyone know if the main stem of the plant can be used ,ie,mulched then alchohol thc extraction?.Any harmfull ingredients if i extract with whysky?thanks
I've never heard of them being used, though I suppose that you could mulch them and mix 'em back into your soil, that might be a good idea.
Whoa, don't throw them out! Take your smallish stems, up to 1/4 inch diameter, and cut them up into pieces with knife or scissors. Take one good sized handful of stems, melt one and a half tablespoons of UNSALTED butter in a small cast iron pan, and saute the stems over a low heat, stirring quite often until toasty brown. Pour the butter thru a strainer, toss out the stems, add one heaping tablespoon brown sugar and stir well. Put it in the freezer until it's solid. This is one yummy, kick ass dose of candy for one person. Adjust the recipe accordingly for more than one person.
Oooh, that could be good. I'm still on to the mulching idea though. I mean if you mulch the stems after every plant, why after a couple or three generations of plants you'll start getting some powefull stuff since the new plants will suck up some of the THC from the soil as well as producing their own. And if you don't gow your own try it with a tomato plant, yup. Tomatos are notorious for sucking up everything from the soil, so who knows, maye you could grow some really good tomatos.
I've got a more plant friendly use for stems. Put them in your mulch when planting your crop. The DNA will be absorbed into the next plant. Horticulture. 101!
The trouble with mulching stems and planting with them next year is that unless the stem mulch is THOROUGHLY decomposed and then some, you'll get mold, mildew, and other obnoxious stuff which is extremely contagious to the new plants. I'd recommend waiting an extra season to use that stem mulch.
personally, I use them to mulch in with the next batch of soil. Its like making compost in which loads of nitrogen is given off something the plant needs alot of during its veg time. This method for me has been proving itself successful for years.
i read on a few other forums that it's cool to just smoke the stems (though some complained of a headache/that it doesn't do anything)...what if i use them in a pipe? does it make a difference? should i not?
If you're like me, your stems just collect on a tray until they become an obsticle when cleaning buds for smoking, or you, or some other outside factor, like a pet or guest, knocks the blasted thing and its contents to the floor, making the effort to save stems a pointless and frustrating one. You could smoke the stems but as anyone foolish enough to have ever smoked catnip can attest, to the gross feeling and taste in the back of your throat is not worth the effort reguardless of whether or not you can catch a buzz. Different options for using stems, depends on the amount you have at your disposle. The stem does contain THC so consumption is a good form of recycling. Butter, candy, or tea are all viable for reusing your pot stems and making them into yummy edibles. For growers, all forms of debris; stems, leaf matter, and shake (basically everything except roots and seeds) are great materials for making hash, although this may not be a legal option for you. Mulching is also a good way to reuse your stems. Even tossing them in the garden or backyard is better than throwing them in the garbage. These options may not be worth the effort for you, so you really just have to weigh the pros and cons within your own stash.
If you have enough stems(and I mean quite a bit) you could extract THC from them pretty simply and get a nice little ball of hash. But it's really not worth it.
i simply save all of my stems and after a few ounces of herb i have a good amount of stems which i use to make cannabutter. about 2 hours ago i had some and i feel like im about to pass out its hitting me so strong and i have a hell of a tolerance as it is. still have about half a stick of butter left in my freezer from today's extraction. dont waste your stems they can get you very high
I tend to make tea out of mine. Grind them up, put them in a tea bag and let it sit in some milk at the bottom of the mug for a bit, put in a second teabag for flavor and pour the hot water on top. I do not really know if it gets me high, but its something to do with something I would throw away anyways, and if I have been smoking earlier it does seem to extend the mellowness for a while longer, often up to 3 hours longer then normal. But that is just me, it does not take a whole lot of stems, maybe a quart of herb usually gives me the amount in stems for one tea bag.
I want to learn to make soap with them. If theres a way render the stems down and make like a pumice soap. I want to use every part of the plant and waste none. Any idears?
