Put it this way, I don't find politics very funny these days. However, any subject is fair game for my rampant cynicism... ;)

BTW, it's very interesting and enlightening to read up on cynicism, and the Greek Cynic school to understand where I am coming from.

I am a graduate of the New York City Cynic school. ;)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cynic

Did you know that ancient cynics regarded themselves as "citizens of the world" and that they advocated a return to nature, the rejection of prevailing political and social values?

I don't ascribe to all the features of cynicism, but those that cut thru the maya and bring us closer to reality are the most valuable.

The NYC school emphasizes HUMOR as the way to bring forth the virtues of cynicism and can be seen in almost all comedians coming from that area.

Sure, if it turns you on. I did have a good chuckle over that line! You might have to link back to this thread or my post for people to get it.

Hey, I bet those Federal Marshalls used that line after murdering that passenger.

It could become the cliche excuse for paranoid over-reacting to any perceived but unreal threat in this day and age.

"Saddam was acting a bit too Merry, so we invaded Iraq"

Yup, it seems to make as much sense as any other excuse I've heard thus far.

I like how in all Robin Hood stuff I saw as a tyke, Prince John who taxed a few british people too much was the villain, and our hero Richard the Lionheart was out killing a million muslims.

Yes, and while he was out killing muslims he was also plundering their wealth, bringing it back to England. A real anti-Robin Hood!

    Will the Crusades ever end?

At least I don't have any intrest in the holy land. I say we just evict everybody there to Canada and use the Middle East as a nuclear waste dump.

I mean, if the jews don't return there can't be an Apocalypse right? I'm gonna win the nobel prize for this.

I read something recently, can't remember who wrote it, but the dude argued that Robin Hood was really a Libertarian. The gist was that, he didn't rob from the rich and give to the poor, he actually robbed from the government and gave it back to the people who earned it.

Then again, Mel Brooks claimed that Robin Hood robbed everybody and kept everything. I trust Mel's account since he was there at the time. (For those who don't know, Mel Brooks is over 2000 years old.)
