YaCy - Peer-to-peer open-source web search

    It's released as FLOSS (Free/Libre, Open-Source Software).

    YaCy can run on Windows, Mac or Linux. It just requires installation of JAVA.

    Installation and administration are not difficult.

    Unsurprisingly, it doesn't return nearly as many results as Google, or any of the other major search engines, but the project is still very young. I suspect that this gap might narrow considerably with time. The fact that it is decentralized and open-source are important to me.
