I am thinking of askign for a new router for Christmas I have a D-Link and my connection likes to drop easily I can't imagine anything relaly interfering with the connection and sometimes get a better connection with neighboring houses sometimes up to about a block away I might get a new wireless card while I'm at it I've heard SysLink is a better brand any comments/reccomendations? also if you ahve any tips for maximizing connectivity in general...
Linksys makes great routers. There is one in particular that I am very fond of. WRT54GL The link is to newegg and they have a $10 rebate but you can get this router at other stores too. Make sure you get the model right because there is also a wrt54g and wrt54gs, maybe others. I use this router and I have never had to reset it and I never lose connection. It is amazing compared to the old Belkin G router I had. Really, it fixed all my wireless problems.
I have 2 Apple Airport Extreme cards, a Belkin G PCMCIA card, and 2 Belkin G USB cards working with my router without a problem. airlink, I have no experience with them, I don't think.
from what I've researched it depends on tons of things whether or not you'll experience problems I'm waiting till I get a job to bother with trying to fix my connection through hardware cause it might take quite a few shopping trips I might end up saving for the N routers when they come about
I like netgear. I use this one and I have not had any trouble with it. http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/GWirelessRouters/WGR613V.aspx also have a 2 friends use the same one (which is why i bought it).
