There's a girl (yes i'm in my 30s and still call women my age girls) at work I think I could be friends with. We shared an elevator this morning and talked about the weather. Haha well it's a start
I look for some kind of mutual appeal or interest, which could just be one thing. I don't look for perfect friends at all. I too have plenty of friends (in various uncategorised gradations) with which i mainly share one interest. I don't demand the possibility of having a good discussion from every friend. But yes, having that option with one or two is a really good feeling. I think though that if I had that in a partner, I would care even less about having all perfect friendship qualities in one friend I hope you can shake off that feeling. It's the most normal thing in the world to crave (new) friends in your thirties. And its harder than in your teens or twenties in most cases. But far from impossible, especially if one has so many interests and hobbies etc. as you I would think. And can talk about pretty much anything (except politics , but that's not a bad thing in your case imo. I certainly wouldn't let it stop me from befriending you!)
I never know when to call females women or girls. I never quite know what a female wants to be called in that moment.
I don't think it matters. Neither is offensive. The only thing I mind is being called pet names by people who aren't close to me (family, close friends or partner).
if she's young, then she should be called a "Girl" if she's older, then prefer to her as a "Woman" it's just that simple..
I heard Janis Joplin referred to as a "woman-child" on a documentary once. That seems to carry connotations of being a bit messed up, but I kind of like the term. It describes a certain type of female to me. Playful and fun rather than bitchy and moaning : P
Every time you buy a bottle of Laphroig you get a certificate to claim a square foot of the isle of islay so I own a bit of Scotland
in real life this is true. but i've seen people scolded on hipforums several times for saying "girl."
