...and it's too cold as well. I took the garbage out twice today, barefoot both times. It's about 35 degrees or so outside, and it's been raining on and off all day. Somehow water makes the ground colder. I didn't want to stay barefoot outside for long. Not today.
Water is an excelent conductor of temperatures (wet oven mitts vs. dry) Wet snowy conditions always feels colder than dry packed snow. Give your body a chance to aclimatize to the conditions and you'll be pleased with the warmth your circulation provides. After a a little snowfooting my feet stay toasty for the rest of the day. Try it for yourself around 33 degrees F (safe from frostbite) your feet will thank you.
It was 60 degrees here in Indiana yesterday yet it was to wet for me to be barefoot very long as well. If it would have been dry and sunny I would have not had flipflops or shoes on the entire day. Only about four months to barefooting season!
Except for the two times we had snow on the ground, (briefly, since there's no winter at all this year) I've been bare, or flops, non stop since LAST March 12. In Maine yesterday the temp was in the upper 40s and it was dark. (No sun, as usual) So yeah, the ground would pull the heat out of my bare feet, even when on leaves or moss. So, on with the flops, each time, and that's still enough. We keep hearing about a weather pattern shift which will finally bring us winter, but it keeps being delayed, and my guess even if it comes, the winter will remain fractured. (Brief shots of cold and snow) so I may make it to March 12 anniversary still only having to be in snow footwear briefly. As in days. Climate change---
