On the horizon, there was a full 360 degree sunset during the peak moment.

It was probably a blimp. Lol. The Whitmans blimp or the goodyear blimp lit up.

One of the pizza chains showed how to make a pinhole camera out of its pizza box.

Donut companies could probably make a donut with a very small hole that would act as a pinhole camera.

No end to the marketing gimmicks. Sticks of gum and fruit roll-ups could be perforated to project a large number of crescent shaped lights. A pizza box with an array of small perforations would work.

I drove to eastern Oregon to see the total eclipse. As soon as the sun is completely blocked it's like a light bulb is turned off and the stars come out. The sun becomes a white ring in the sky. Truly amazing. I'm actually tempted to go see the next one in 2019 in Chile.

I was in direct line when this went down. Crickets started chirping and birds went silent during totality. It was fucking awesome.

Wasn’t there a total solar eclipse in eastern Oregon back in 1979?

Yeah i'm thinking about it. I've always wanted to go to Chile anyways, might as well plan it around an eclipse

Going someplace you want to see... on a day that it's going to be dark outside.

    Seems legit.

A year goes by quickly, but threads that were last updated a year ago are on page 6 which makes them easy to find.
