I think there may have been a portion of glasses that were advertised as meeting safety standards, even though they did not.

Amazon should have sent you email if the glasses didn't meet standards

I guess I'll have to stand in line to check the girls out of school tomorrow.

I know the high schooler has to be out by 11:30.

One can also imagine millions of people at the event texting about it and missing actually looking at a total eclipse. Similar to a group of friends at a restaurant table texting for an hour and never talking to each other in person.

There are friends I've quit going out to lunch with because of that. Four of us went out a couple of weeks ago and I was the only one who wasn't staring into a phone.

Krispy Kreme donuts has been chocolate coating all their regular glazed donuts over the weekend and today in honor of the eclipse and the line is like a mile long..literally, traffic is backed up a mile from the Krispy Kreme drive thru this morning. Crazy ass people. Clever marketing ploy though

What an amazining astronomical performance art that was!!

The skys around this area had some faint forest fire smoke, which intensified the coronas to expand far distances that I never seen in any other photograph.

I also performed my first wedding as the totality was at 75%

    So worth the northward travel

did you get the fancy glasses to be able to watch it before/after totality?

the sky just got a bit darker than usual here for a little bit, so i guess that is all we got.

Yeah I had glasses, and for all the hysteria they caused around here probably could have lived without them. Viewing the sun through them isn't really all that different from viewing it in a photograph. I thought the best parts were the shadows, how the birds quieted down and the crickets got louder as the sky darkened, and of course the way the moon looked with the solar corona framing it

Fantastic! Wish it had lasted longer. The temperature dropped noticeably and the cicadas started, well, making that noise that cicadas make. And you could see twilight 360° around the horizon...just surreal.

I was just going to ask...did anyone experience the eclipse.? It did not get dark, cooler here or anything, so i don't know what happened outside.

Barely. You could see the shadow of the moon partially cover the sun (through layers of haze and smog, of course). I think it was a much bigger event if you were in the path totality or whatever it's called. Here it just looked like a half moon or whatever.

Was cool though. People up and down the streets were outside, looking up. It was kind of quiet (quieter anyway). One of those moments where you realized hundreds of millions of people were all stopped and doing the same thing as you.
