Didn't stop in any brewerys before or after the show (which was excellent, aka much better than expected) I did however stop in a bodega that had all the bourbon barrel variations. So I'm looking forward to that.

After years of avoiding liquor completely, I have taken a liking to sipping bourbon neat.

Anyone have any recommendations on a good bourbon? I've just been drinking little mini bottles i've been gifted here and there but it's mostly bottom shelf stuff. Would like to try something a little better

    Taking recommemdations for scotch too

J&B, Breckenridge, or just plain Jim Beam. scotch is bourbon from scottand and whiskey is from teh usa. its all the same i thinks. used to love the stuff in the winter. not so much anymore..

    I was almost right..
The main difference between scotch and whisky is geographic, but also ingredients and spellings. Scotch is whisky made in Scotland, while bourbon is whiskey made in the U.S.A, generally Kentucky. Scotch is made mostly from malted barley, while bourbon is distilled from corn. What’s the Difference Between Scotch, Whiskey and Bourbon?

    Thanks for the suggestions!
And the mental floss article, that was an interesting read. I've never really understood the difference

I know I've been gone for like, 4 1/2 months, but here I am again... finally!
    So, welcome to 2019!!!

Some shit has gone down in this time.

    A sister-in-law got engaged.

Lil Kick lost more teeth and started playing Fortnite (almost exclusively in creative mode).
He's also now working towards his high blue belt in his martial arts class.
And will be starting School of Rock soon.
(This kid is gonna be way cooler than I ever was growing up!)

Oh... and unless I fuck it up, I quit smoking (cigarettes) as of Jan 15th-ish (had a couple drags from almost dead butts on the 16th and 17th).

So, yeah... that's some domestic shit.
But now for some *checks brewing city* domestic shit!

    Beer #1:
    (Alc. 7%)
(Evil Twin - Learn What Is to Be Taken Seriously and Laugh at the Rest)

Smell: Sweet citrus and stone fruit right up front. A thick cracker body buffers the pineapple hay background.

Taste: Juicy citrus and dank peach come forward with distant pine following on a soft cracker trail.

Overall, this falls in the Five Alive category. It tastes a lot like what I remember Five Alive tasting like when I used to get it at the sports place I went to as a kid for tennis lessons. Gets a bit more bitter and dank/overripe towards the end, but not terribly so... like the flesh around a peach pit.

And y'all know I couldn't come back after 4 months and not include a pic!
    Especially with my first review!
(Apparently Tobey Maguire helped this girl don her new ocean inspired covering.)

    And there were 2.

    Beer #2:
    (Alc. 6.2%)
    (Rusty Rail - Twilight Falcon)

Smells: A subdued candied citrus crown holds the front, while the slight biscuit body peeks out from behind while holding hands with whispers of pine.

Tastes: Soft pine, tempered with subdued candied citrus. A hint of a biscuit body gives way to a dry, calm, pithy pine background on the back half.

Overalls, a fairly nice brew. The pine is pronounced, but not aggressive or too bitter. Even if it does build a bit on itself by the end. S'alright.

    Not quite twilight...
    but close enough.

    Thanks, you sexay bitch!

    It's good to be back.
You have NO idea how much I've missed y'all.
    And my box. *straight face*

I mean, absolutely being truthful, I think about all of you and this thread (and forum overall) at least once a week.
    Probably closer to almost daily.

I've been active as shit on Twitter, but my foruming has suffered greatly.
So has my drinking for that matter!

    Anyway, thanks again...

    So, here I am.
    Finishing up my last beer.
    Giving you my review.
    Saying things like, "SLAGHATA BAHRG".

It doesn't make sense, but i said it anyway.

    So, um, about that review...

    Beer #3:
    (Alc. 8%)
(Hoof Hearted Brewing - Everybody Wants Some)

Smellin: Sweet vanilla orange-leaning citrus leans forward with a few pine needles and blades of grass on it's back. Then the biscuit body rounds out the bottom.

Tastin: Orange/lemon citrus and blithe pith introduce dry pine on a biscuit/cracker body, then all suggest an earthy exit together.

Overallin, the bite is more dry pine than the smell portrayed, but it's cool. It's tasty and diggable. Perfect for a bright summer day in the woods.

    And like the beer says...
    Everybody wants some!!

I like seeing this thread pop up again. Howya doin' Kick?

For the last 10 years, I was a devoted porter and stout drinker. Seems my taste buds have shifted away from that stuff and now in favor of IPAs. In my early 20s, I couldn't stand IPAs, now I love 'em.
