Also, I'm here to drop off another one-shot. This time it's a weird stout-not-a-stout brew. Here... it's this: (Alc. 10%) (Dogfish Head - Oak Aged Siracusa Nera) Smell: Tangy red wine up front with smokey oak close by. Also, coffee and dark chocolate notes just underneath them. Seems like a cracker body and I swear I can smell the smaller, porter-like bubbles. Taste: Smokey oak and tangy syrah notes lead the way. Soft, dark coffee/chocolate flow underneath. Metallic cracker of a body. Overall, this is not yer daddy's stout. A wild and weird combo of flavors blend together more seamlessly than I expected, making the tasting notes a bit harder to decipher. The oak and syrah must definitely are most apparent. The more common stout notes hide in the back a bit. And the body... is weird. For a stout. Small bubbles, thinner than normal, and a lack of a bready quality to the body... it's like it has the body of a porter. Pretty interesting and unique brew. I also found a fairly relative pic for this one. Because looking at things that are nice to look at is cool. Here ya go:
JJJULIUSSS (not to be confused with Julius) from Tree House. Literally the best IPA I have ever had. Holy fuck this is incredible!! Everything that Julius is, and then some. Body and mouthfeel is like silk. Super soft, creamy and smooth.
Sideways And also this saison is really disappointing, it doesnt have much flavor for a saison But it does make a pretty picture, despite it being sideways
I would have been ok with one but am not upset that I got 6 in a variety pack....well I will get back to you when I review that golden ale...
That looks mighty good. I want. I went to a local brewery last night and had a kettle soured cherry beer. It was the bomb diggity.
I am having a Highland Oatmeal Porter A classic beer from a classic Asheville brewery...I think they may have been Asheville's first brewery
Gonna have an 077xx variant on the bus to ny. Still haven't decided what brewery to go to but I dont plan on a Manhattan one.
Check out Grimm. Grimm has opened their own brewery in Brooklyn if you didn't know. Their IPAs are back to what they used to be 2-3 years ago. Their sours have been amazing, too. Also, check out Finback in Queens if you haven't. Finback make some really interesting and well-crafted beers.
I will see how easy Grimm is to get to from the subway. In other news I got ready early so I check if there is an early bus. There was and it passed me as I got out to the main st.so gotta wait an hour for the one I planned on taking. I go out with plenty time to spare. And the road going into town was closed down with no traffic going in. I said fuck it and drove to the train station, so much for having a couple drinks after the show.
Neither open until 5, not likely tonight because they are a bit out of the way from Irving plaza and I will double check when I get a minute but it looks like. No trains go close to there that go near the plaza.
Ended up going to Gun hill. It was open, it got a decent rating and it was a short walk from the subway. I will search for Grimm and finback and other top rated while I sit here to see if anyplace is worth going to.
I couldn't find my metro card....had it in a pocket near my chest, you know just in case I am robbed. Soooooo. I forgot that and am searching my Jean pockets over and over. After I remember I miss my train by less than 5 seconds. So anyway. Heading back south hoping for a brewery to stop in.
