    Welcome to the Conscious Bible forum. This project is a goal of COOL, to create a reference work that compiles wisdom thru the ages, from many sources. It will be available for our members and any interested individuals and groups.

    This compendium will serve as a guide to living a life of love, peace and tolerance.

    Any member can submit an article or quotation they feel expresses these and other ideals they feel strongly about. At some point a committee or the whole membership will decide what gets included in the work.

    Once the work is finalized (it will never really be finished), we will publish it and make it available both online and in print form.

    The Conscious Bible will spread the message of ONE LOVE around the world and hopefully inspire many to put into practice their beliefs, and protect those who do from ridicule and oppression.

    Any source is welcome. As long as the message coincides with COOL's message of ONE LOVE, it will be considered for inclusion in the Conscious Bible.

    You must be a member of COOL to post in this forum.

    Desiderata
    --written by Max Ehrmann in the 1920's--

    Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
    and remember what peace there may be in silence.

    As far as possible, without surrender,
    Be on good terms with all persons.
    Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
    and listen to others,
    even the dull and the ignorant;
    they too have their story.
    Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
    they are vexatious to the spirit.

    If you compare yourself with others,
    you may become vain or bitter,
    for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
    Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
    Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
    it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

    Exercise caution in your business affairs,
    for the world is full of trickery.
    But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
    many persons strive for high ideals,
    and everywhere life is full of heroism.
    Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
    Neither be cynical about love,
    for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
    it is perennial as the grass.

    Take kindly the counsel of the years,
    gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
    Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
    But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
    Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

    Beyond a wholesome discipline,
    be gentle with yourself.
    You are a child of the universe
    no less than the trees and the stars;
    you have a right to be here.
    And whether or not it is clear to you,
    no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

    Therefore be at peace with God,
    whatever you conceive Him to be.
    And whatever your labors and aspirations,
    in the noisy confusion of life,
    keep peace in your soul.

    With all it's sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
    it is still a beautiful world,
    Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

    Psalm Concerning the Castle

    Let me be at the place of the castle.
    Let the castle be within me.
    Let it rise foursquare from the moat's ring.
    Let the moat's waters reflect green plumage of ducks, let
    the shells of swimming turtles break the surface or be
    seen through the rippling depths.
    Let horsemen be stationed at the rim of it, and a dog,
    always alert on the brink of sleep.
    Let the space under the first storey be dark, let the water
    lap the stone posts, and vivid green slime glimmer upon
    them; let a boat be kept there.
    Let the caryatids of the second storey be bears upheld on
    beams that are dragons.
    On the parapet of the central room, let there be four
    archers, looking off to the four horizons. Within, let
    the prince be at home, let him sit in deep thought, at
    peace, all the windows open to the loggias.
    Let the young queen sit above, in the cool air, her child in
    her arms; let her look with joy at the great circle, the
    pilgrim shadows, the work of the sun and the play of
    the wind. Let her walk to and fro. Let the columns uphold
    the roof, let the storeys uphold the columns, let there
    be dark space below the lowest floor, let the castle rise
    foursquare out of the moat, let the moat be a ring and
    the water deep, let the guardians guard it, let there be
    wide lands around it, let that country where it stands be
    within me, let me be where it is.

    if i were god or a god, my first, and very nearly only commandment would be: "though shalt rob no one of their calmness".

    now i know there are a lot of fun things none of us would have because many of them would simply not exist if no one ever did.

    and i don't beleieve as some people seem to, that living without any of them, would somehow bring about a world in which no one ever did.

    but whatever we had to live without as a reasault, of no one ever robbing anyone else of their calmness, that i believe is and would be worth it.

    the kind of world we all have to live in matters because creating and exploring are what gratify.

    and so it's not about being a saint. but it is about the kind of world we all have to live in.

    there is a connection between priorities and probabilities that i believe would be obvious if people did not coerce each other into hiding it from themselves.

    and so my second commandement would be not to hide from ourselves the connection between priorities and probabilities. and that means not trying to pretend or believe it is an act of worship to do so.

    of course i am niether a god, nor are my observations in any way infallable.
    so i can only share with you what i feel would lead to the kind of world i would prefer to be living in.

    while there are many wise people who'se insights i respect, i am not quoting them often because i do not believe any of them were infallable either, nor that anything needs to be, only that more then we can ever possibly begin to immagine, in greater and strainger diversity, can and does, exist.

    Agreed.

    A word I find useful in this discussion of a better world, would be Conscience. If more people would awaken it, the world be be a better place.

    That's why I called it the Conscious Bible. It's goal is to raise the consciousness of those who read it. Rather than tell people "this is the only way", it allows people to review the many paths to enlightenment that others have discovered, and allows them to choose whatever suits them. Just like one shoe can't fit all, neither can one path.

    The works listed in and referred to by the Conscious Bible were written by enlightened beings (Jesus wasn't the only one). They became aware of who they really are and their connection to God. They made a difference and influenced generations seeking answers to those eternal philosophical dilemmas.

    I agree with the importance of Consciousness in a Religion totally. But understand the difference between Conscience and Conscious. They are related, but not the same thing.

    the universe is an orchestra of love. everything has a single atom of everlasting eternal divine love inside of it. God is every kind of pure vibrant love. and love is what we shall return to when our mission of bringing love to earth is over. =)

    Whenever I think of a concept of "one", I remember this song. I always thought it was "one world" in the lyrics but apparently, it's "one war"

    One doubt
    One voice
    One war
    One truth
    One dream
