[IMG] here was not always a 13th sign in the Zodiac [Mazzaroth]. About 2000 years ago the Sun traveled from the constellation Scorpius and then went directly into the sign of Sagittarius, but due to the constant motion of the cosmos, the Sun now enters, for a few days of the year, the star constellation 'Ophiuchus' before entering Sagittarius from Scorpius, thus creating Astrologically the birth of a thirteenth sign of the Zodiac, which is named: Ophiuchus the 'man' Serpent Holder, patterned from the original 'Serpent Holder', Enki, a Sumerian god.

[IMG]he signs of the Zodiac are for the most part, the highway, or path, on which the Sun takes on it's yearly journey across the heavens - as it would appear to Earthlings. These signs are actually star constellations occupying space in which the Sun appears to travels in an earth year. The original twelve signs/constellations: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces are quite familiar to everyone, however, the thirteenth sign/constellation, [Ophiuchus], is in fact, not well known. To acknowledge a 13th sign now would seem awkward for astrologers, who like the tidiness of '12 signs' that rule over the 12 houses of the Zodiac. But like it or not the heavens are alive and they do change after a few thousand years and the astrologer who wants to maintain accuracy must change along with the signs in the heavens.

[IMG]he constellation of Ophiuchus is the only sign of the Zodiac which is linked to a real man. This man lived in ancient Egypt around the 27th century BCE, and his name was Imhotep [patterned after Enki]. Many of the same attributes of Imhotep can also be found in the Biblical Hebrew man Joseph, son of Jacob - [see comparison chart for these two men in separate article]. Imhotep is credited with many accomplishments including the knowledge and use of medicine. It is said of Imhotep that he brought the art of healing to mankind. The symbol of a serpent [or snake], which is still widely used today to represent the medical profession, was used to represent Imhotep. Imhotep was also known as 'Aesclepius' to the ancient Greeks, but by any name the attributes are still all the same. The attributes listed below describe Imhotep, i.e. the Hebrew Joseph, or Aesclepius. The keyword descriptions seen below, originated with Betty Rhodes, and are the attributes for the 13th sign of the Zodiac - Ophiuchus:

12 signs. 3 water, 3 earth, 3 air, 3 fire. 4 cardinial, 4 fixed, 4 mutuable. always has been always will be. fun theory though but how is scorpio only 6 days? under the 12 signs, each sign is equal in lenght just about..yours are all jumbled lengthwise.

and I am nothing like a libra. I am defiantly a scorpio, nov. 6. my gf is not an aries, definatly a taurus.

Very interesting, Vespertine, but truthfully I have barely any knowledge of such a thing as this 13th sign, Ophiuchus. I don't understand how you figured out your sign ingress and egress dates by the way. The actual dates of planet ingress and egress vary over time with the tropical system. One must consult an ephemeris to find the exact time a planet enters and leaves a sign. Even the sun, which is pretty constant, can vary over time and between certain signs. I think you are referring to "the true zodiac" though, which I don't understand very clearly. Can you clarify what the "true zodiac" is? The current western system of Astrology uses the tropical zodiac, or the sidereal zodiac. I use the tropical zodiac, which is what most people use and understand. Are you referring to the sidereal zodiac? Then there is also the precession of the equinoxes. This shift has the actual signs of the zodiac many degrees in advance of the ones we are used too.

    more info I found:

tropical zodiac has nothing to do with the constellations. They are based on the equinoxes and solstices.

Sun in Aries is the vernal equinox, and that is beginning of Spring.

Sun in Cancer is the summer solstice, and that is beginning of Summer.

Sun in Libra is the autumnal equinox, and that is beginning of Fall.

Sun in Capricorn is the winter solstice, and that is the beginning of Winter.

That has nothing to do with stars in the sky.

This thirteenth "sign" is not really news, there are actually other constellations that the sun supposedly goes through as well.
