I'm about to try shrooms for the first time. I've been reading about them and im going to do it with a trip sitter in a comfortable setting. I only have one question. What do they taste like?
tell us after you try them. i dunno how to describe the taste other than "not great." they don't taste good, but you can deal with it
Some people hate the taste. Some, like myself, actually kind of like them. Fresh ones kinda remind me of asparagus. Which is weird, because if you put any non-magical variety in front of me, I gag. If you really can't stand them, eat them with some dark chocolate- which also happens to be an maoi and will increase potency.
Taste like peanut shells and feet!!! Really, to me, they taste awful. BUT, the first 10 or so times that I ate them, I didn't mind it at all. Seems like the more you eat, the worse they get.
everyone says this or that is an maoi, but even if these things are, they are so mild in their mao inhibiting effects that they are almost definitely NOT going to effect potency. i don't believe for a minute that chocolate will make mushrooms noticibly stronger. however, chocolate tastes good, so i do recommend it, if you want. powder the mushrooms, melt good, dark chocolate, and put it in molds with the mushroom powder, and then let the candies harden but personally, i always go for tea. plain tea is fine, but i usually add something else for flavoring.
Dried fly agaric is most most terrible tasting, the knarley black you can cook out of it is just as bad but will fuck your brain even harder, the freshies.... good GOD! I have tasted Death Caps and they taste a million times better, almost like a button mushroom, only better... but soooooooooo deadly. Cyans or azures dont taste like much, in the rare case you encounter them they probubly will taste like a very small watery vegetable. The bells of liberty are worse cause no matter what they taste like you have to eat a bunch of them. fresh cubies require more chomping but are very similar to a vegi, much easier than dried cubies, the slower they are dried the nastier they taste.
Tasted a death cap?!?!?!?!? Sweet creeping Jesus, why? I remember a big one growing near a camp I once lived in- absolutely beautiful, but very loudly demanding that I keep my distance. Had to admire from afar. Couldn't imagine eating one, although I've heard them and destroying angels are some of the best tasting mushrooms in the world. Just too bad they cause such a painful death.... how did your experience go? nesta- in my experience, dark chocolate is very effective as an maoi, and as I understand there's a long tradition in Mexico of using this combo to increase potency. I think it has to have a high % of cocoa though.
The mushrooms don't taste all that bad, I would just wash them down with some water. I don't really like drinking all this other flavoured shit that might bother me later on. I'm weird though Try one, and if you really don't like it drink some juice, or eat chocolate like other people have suggested.
Exactly, like my first few times i didnt mind the taste that much, but my 3rd time and after i gagged each time and had nausea on the come up. In my opinion they smell and taste like if you didnt wash your feet for a week, with moldy socks on.
My mushroom teacher taught me that you can take a bite of the deadly ones, chew it up, get a taste and spit it out without ill effects, death caps and destroying angles are very tasty actually.... the Galerinas dont taste great though.
I think they kinda taste like stale pumpkin seeds. its not bad at all but they just have something to them that does take your breathe away a little bit when you first bite into them... idk if it makes a difference but i suck on them some when im eating them
like peanuts and sunflower seeds sortof (?) I can honestly say it's not that bad, have a glass of water handy and just chew them up.
Ugh, I absolutely HATE the taste of them. I cannot eat it straight at all. I have friends that just eat them like candy, friends that boil them & drink the water, and then I....mix them in applesauce. For some reason it's the best way I can handle it. The taste just makes me want to vomit. The 5 minutes of choking them down is definitely worth the trip though.
i didn't really mind the taste, it wasn't unbearable. the only bad part was when you picked the stuff off your teeth, that's what made me gag. no vomiting though
