This is so true. R&B in the old days meant Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Little Richards, Nat King Cole. Today's R&B tends to be auto-tune-heavy, which was unfathomable back in the old days.

I was just thinking this recently. I really want to like music coming out now but it's just garbage. The pop stuff is just unlistenable. And there is rock songs my sister loves and she will tell me "you gotta here this one" I can't say it's garbage but I pretty much never like it. And my older sister grew up with led zeppelin as a favorite band. Now she refuses to listen to them. She told me how much she loves Brittney Spears though.
Pretty much my family shoots down everything vago says....except my mom. She is still stuck in the 60s.

Come on, I'm sure even you at one stage have payed more attention to a band/musician than there music suggested because of something they did imagewise

Much as I love Rhianna, autotune is getting really annoying, I dont know why a singer like her needs it. You can tell the difference when you pay attention to songs

Yes, when I was a kid. I even gave an example already did you notice.
I will admit a few years later I was also disappointed when Bruce Dickinson cut his hair :grinning: But that was probably the last time i really let such a thing influence what i listen to.

I listen to EVERYTHING. From the 1930s onwards. I don't care for a few genres and I do not really care for current music.|
Music from my childhood (90-s to 200's) doesn't really matter to me much. I find most of it annoying honestly.

We will see how I feel in 40 years but probably I will still be listening to music from way before my time, The Beatles, The Kinks, Talking Heads, Fleetwood Mac, etc.

    Good music is good music!

Even some people who some may claim do the heavily auto-tuned 'crap' modern music are influenced by some Good music.

I personally don't mind being stuck in the past. I like the same stuff for the most part. Everything now is senseless and soleless. It fuckin sucks. When I was younger the older generation said the same thing about us...that our music made no sense. And they said WE sucked too! It's inherited and passed on generation to generation. I love the 80s/90s Rock, metal, rap, etc., and I'm there to stay. Fuck it!

Yeah and I am jealous! I'll never get to see any of the greats in concert. Well... Fleetwood Mac is apparently touring this year! Fingers crossed.

I actually went to see my friend perform today. He's a singer in a power metal band, and he's younger than I am. It was great! One might think this style of music is "dated", but it really isn't. I came out of the venue totally inspired, impressed, and ultimately happy. They are one of many examples of how today's music can still rock people.

Okay, I'm also biased because they are my friend's band, lol. But they're doing really good, they've been on magazines and TV and stuff!
