Ok, Here's my problem...I can't seem to get enought sleep. I usually sleep around 10 hours at night and then about every other day or so I feel extremely tired during the day and want to take a nap. I have been like this ever since I can remember. I thought about taking some ginkoba or something like that but I really dont know much about it just that its suspost to give you more energy. Does anyone have any advice?

The solution is simple.... sleep less. If I sleep more than 6 or 7 hours a night (and I generally get around 4 or 5 during school) I feel miserable. Of course, about every two months I crash and must sleep for 12+ hours a day for around two weekends in a row, but then I'm set for another two months of feeling fine.

People who get too much sleep tend to suffer from lack of energy and motivation. ImmortalDissident might be on the right track here. You might want to try cutting an hour or so from your sleep schedule and see how you feel after a period of time. But try to do it for at least a week or two. IF after that you're feeling worse, then ya might want to consider another approach. Another question. How often do you exercise? What do you eat? These can affect your energy levels as well. Focus on those aspects before medicating yourself or relying on herbal extracts. even if it's herbal, it's still medicating. best to consider it as a second or third option. But that's just my two cents worth.

You could be anemic. Better check it out, no kidding. You could get a lot worse. Honestly, go to the doctor. You really should....

Not enough iron? Animal sources are best.

The 2 good things about sleep is that 1. you get more energy
    2. You can dream of anything

    The End!

Needing too much sleep: sounds like an imbalance someplace, with the ph levels and all the chemicals in your body, the ones you need and the ones yoou don't. Your body is using too much energy to process and do what it's supposed to do, the organs and fluids aren't working properly. Find a wholistic nutritionist who can test these and guide you to what's best for you, based on the test results. I'm doing this myself and am learning to understand the signals our bodies give us, and have an idea what's wrong. The numbers from the test results can be calculated to find out what your energy level is, how much the body uses, and how much you have in reserve. Also, being everyone's different, you may need more sleep than someone else. This world is so hung up on the "one size fits all" idea, and forget everyone's an individual, unique, different from everyone else, yet similar in many ways too. What works for others may or may not work for you. If it doesn't, that's ok. Also, most regular doctors treat the symptoms and not the cause, though they talk alot about cure. If we were all cured, they'd be out of business, but that's another story. Anyway, I'm no expert by any means, I'm just sharing what I've learned from my experience, and talking with the wholistic nutritionist. The test has a name and there are variations on it, some are good and some aren't. You'll prob'ly have to pay for the tests, and any suppliments needed as indicated by the tests, but if you feel your health is worth the effort, do it. I'm very poor but have managed to afford to do this, though it's taking most of my resources, because I've never been healthy and am trying to see how much I can improve. It takes time to change the chemistry, afterall, it took many years to get this way. I'm doing better after a year but not as well as I could be. My energy level was 29% when I started, that was reserve energy, which means my body was using 71% to process everything I ate and drank. Our age, weight, height, and gender factor into the equation too. Quit processed stuff, find natural equivalants, drink more water, with as few chemicals as possible, less caffene, among other things. It's not easy and you'll have to eat things you may not like much. It's worth it to me. It's ok occasionally to have the fun stuff, just do it in moderation. It's all about BALANCE. Whatever you do, I hope you'll be healthy. There's nothing more precious than that; without health, life is much less enjoyable. It's bad enough babylon oppresses us with their crap we can't control, but we can control a lot of what we consume. I'm paying for my bad habits now, and may never fully recover, though I'm not giving up. Babylon gave us the junk we enjoy, and the problems that come with it, including having trouble thinking, concentrating, and focusing, remembering, and sleeping. Follow your intuition. Do some research into what I'm saying, and see for yourself. Be well, safe from babylon, and happy.

Sincerely, Ariel SilverSpirit, just an intuitive healer who cares about people, annimals, and the environment.

Have you had your B12 levels checked? I have a B12 problem, and about two days before it's time to get my next shot I start to feel really really drained...it's awful. I'm still tired sometimes, but it makes a huge difference. Also, like Bilby and Monosphere said, check your diet. I find (with the B12 issue) that things like red meat or eggs really pump the energy levels.

This probably doesn't apply to your situation... but if somebody regularly gets less than their optimal amount of sleep, like between 5 and 7 hours, and then one day they sleep like 10 hours straight, they'll feel really groggy\tired\sick when they wake up because their body was just trying to make-up for all the sleep they didn't get and they interrupted it. The reason they don't feel so groggy\tired the whole they were getting 6 hours of sleep a night was because their bodies were producing extra adrenaline to keep them up. If they regularly get 8-9 hours of sleep, they'll be fine. That's also the reason why you sometimes feel so hyperactive after not sleeping all night: extra adrenaline. It's almost like your body producing it's own coffee. I just had to say that because people are always like "well, I feel tired if I sleep more than 9 hours, so therefore too much sleep must be bad for you", but it's just not true.
