... and the funniest part is that he calls himself "THE DOPE".

Anyway, seriously though it shows that I'm actually open minded and willing to participate in the search for phenomena. I think it's pretty clear who's minds are really closed around here.

    Seriously,
It shows that you are suggestible. Perhaps there is some element of open mindedness that implies being aware. I could hear the unfounded suggestive narrative from the first moments of the video. I did not prejudge the video but it's distortions were apparent to me as I say from the first statements he made.I noticed he was making definitive statements without substantial corroboration. It is one thing to recognize that we are hard wired to believe or we hope to make true distinctions and another to be wholly circumspect in making them. That is being aware of your surroundings and the circumstances associated with an event.

The first suggestive statement in this thread was made by the op in positing the video as substantive to some larger argument. You could be predisposed to enthusiastic participation because the suggestion is that it demonstrates the fallacy of belief so that could account for your supposed open mindedness regarding the level of your participation.

Actually, if anything I was skeptical of the show itself and Derren Brown. As in how fabricated and acted the show was and where did he get an entire audience of atheists.

After looking at some other video's of this Derren Brown, I'd have to say that my personal opinion is that he's a fraud who uses actors.

I'm glad you availed yourself of some objective scrutiny.

LOL...offensive to be religious? What's offensive is how much you think your own shit smells like roses. Reality is not NEARLY as black and white as you tend to paint it.

don't know how I missed this one

    experiments?
    entertaining yes, scientific experiments, no

Mr. Writer, if this guy and his act meet your criteria for good "science" I fear that really calls into question your grasp of scientific methodology, your ability to critically assess scientific data and your assertions & conclusions relating to science and religion in general.

seems as if your personal bias is getting in the way again.
you're smarter than presenting this as scientific proof of anything

cultural conditioning certainly influence how we experience the unfamiliar.
at least as long as we take them as writ, and don't try to see as much more objectively as we can.

but that doesn't mean unusual experiences, don't genuinely happen.

a religious interpretation of an experience can be completely or partially wrong,
without meaning some kind of unusual experience can't or didn't happen.
