    Hello,

I'm a coffee drinker, but on hikes I like to pick some peppermint and chew on it or brew a tea. So as my second experiment in gardening this year I bought some peppermint seeds. Peppermint needs light to germinate (I think). So I just strew them on a bed of potting soil.

    Regards

I set out the started plants, and had good luck. We liked it in tea. Just one thing bad, it spreads like crazy, so be sure you contain it. We put it in raised bed.

I sometimes smoke peppermint mixed with mullein. It's a good mix.

Peppermint is my absolute favourite! I have it before job interviews, sleeping, chilling etc it's so good for making you feel soothed.

You know what else is good to brew in tea? Lemon balm. It's as easy to grow as peppermint, but it's also spreads like crazy as well!

I grown both lemonbalm AND "chocolate" peppermint! Just harvested my first jar full of lemonbalm to decoct into a tincture, and am ready to harvest my mint within the next few days!

Both of these plants grow like weeds... prolifically, and invasively. I highly recommend containers for both unless you don't mind it taking over your entire yard!

Woohoo! Looking just a bit "leggy" at the top already. You could trim it down about halfway & it'd spring back VERY fast!

Way to go! I LOVE my mint! We had our first mint "milk"shakes for dinner last night too.

    Hello,

I ripped off a few leaves to chew on ;), that adds to the leggy look I guess. Anyways, I'll follow your advice and give it a 'hair cut'.

    Regards

The seeds of peppermint difficultly germinate. I suggest you to buy a vase with some mint already planted.
Peppermint grows fast and easily, as long as you water it very frequently

    Hello,

hm, I don't know, maybe I've just been lucky. I dispersed a pinch of seeds on the soil. That resulted in a quite dense 'carpet' of plants. I removed the picture some time ago. If there's interest I can re-upload it.

Yepp, that's true. As homeschoolmama said, my plants had been grown quite large before I cut them the first time. They grew back in no time ;). I let the batch from 2014 die this sommer. Somewhere I still have seeds, maybe I start another batch this week ;).

    Regards
    Gyro
