    ...belongs to them?

(This question is not at all about me but it is about the subject in question. Hopefully, no one will try to make me instead of this question the subject of this thread lol. I don't have a problem talking about me but that's not what this question is about lol.)

Nationalism about forcing your religious views on others? Hmmm...I don't think so.

    Here's Dictionary.com's page for "nationalism" definitions: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Nationalism.

i was under the impression that israel is a jewish state... which would make shoving judaism down your throat a nationalistic past-time.

"5. the policy or doctrine of asserting the interests of one's own nation, viewed as separate from the interests of other nations or the common interests of all nations."

Right. That definition sounds more political than religious to me, but I agree that they are forcing their religious views on others. I wonder could Hindus, Muslims, or Buddhists get away with something like that in the name of their Scriptures:D.

"It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so."
    - Robert A. Heinlein

this is HIGHLY evident in the religious fanaticism of countries like Iran or Israel. it seems as if the United States has been leaning more towards becoming a theocracy of sorts, also.

Well, I'm not very studied on the Middle East but I do know that the Israelis feel that they have a religious right to that land. If that's not forcing your religious views on others, to the point of death, then...

You mentioned Iran; what religious fanaticism did you mean from Iran?

Please forgive my ignorance on the Middle East. There's not a single news source that I completely trust right now:D.

No, you can practice any religion you want to in Israel. Try that in some of their neighboring countries.

you mean 'the islamic republic' of iran? how is that not religious fanaticism? i won't pretend to know everything, but from the information i've taken in, it seems the word tolerance doesn't exist in the vocabulary of most islamic states. think fundamentalist christian... except militarized.

Um-hum...I've heard the Iranian people described as VERY hospitable.

Didn't visit link because that sites not 100% trustworthy in my book.

I don't know...I think calling themselves "The Islamic Republic..." is just descriptive of their government, not dissimilar to the (former) USSR's calling themselves the ...Socialist Republic. I don't know everything about what they do either but history has taught me that the Western media is NOT trustworthy lol. Speaking from personal experience lol.

(EDIT - )Israel however, I do know that I believe that they are forcing their religious views on others by saying that that land belongs to them...

i agree. the title 'islamic republic of iran' is indicative of the nature of said government, not the mindset of the people. however, the people do not control iran's foreign policy.

To anyone who voted "no," how is this not forcing your religious views on others:confused::confused:...

EDIT - If anyone thinks that I am talking against the God of the Bible, He knows I am not if He exists. After all, there is an Old and a New Testament in the Bible...

    Peace.
