The media invented the stereotype hippie because we/they wernt interesting enough for their coverage. They even brought along the "props" a lot of times. Of course they used the worst people they could find to make their story. They managed to prtray a completly incorrect message. That inspired a lot of people to drop out and get stupid. Its about who you are as a person, how you would want to see the world be. Its about your belief in things that are good rather than things that simply make you a pile of money. Its about opening your eyes and actually seeing the world the people seeing the beauty in that and sharing. Its about looking outside the box and realizing that there are other ways of living.
definitely a spiritual thing.. Ram Dass always wore his gf's jeans.. a flannel t.. black rimmed glasses and a ski cap every time he did psychedelics with different gurus in india.. totally spiritual... but then again hipsters are too fucking cool for spirituality or anything for that matter.. they don't own mirrors cuz otherwise they'd realize that they were too cool for even themselves
I've never met a hipster that admitted being a hipster. In fact, if a hipster admitted being one, I think that would disqualify them as a hipster.
