Sure. It was a hell of an exciting time. The war was the shits for those involved, the murders of the Kennedys, Mlk, the pentagon papers, Nixon (yes, a little later) woodstock, communes forming here there and everywhere, the Whole Earth catalog , Mother Earth News magazine showing how to live off the land, thousand of hitchhikers on the road, Patty Hearst and the bank robberies, etc, etc, etc, and yes-----REAL ACID. I was 29. The music was evolving from 3 chord 50s stuff to Pink Floyd, Steve Miller,eProcol Harum, The Stones, etc, etc. (I haven't even scratched the surface of what was going on). Hell yes I'd go back.

I got my first real six-string
    Bought it at the five-and-dime
Played it 'til my fingers bled
    Was the summer of sixty-nine
Me and some guys from school
Had a band and we tried real hard
    Jimmy quit, Jody got married
    I should've known we'd never get far
Oh, when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Yeah, I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life
    Ain't no use in complainin'
When you've got a job to do
Spent my evenings down at the drive-in
And that's when I met you, yeah
    Standin' on your mama's porch
You told me that you'd wait forever
Oh, and when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
    Oh, yeah
Back in the summer of sixty-nine, oh
Man, we were killin' time, we were young and restless
    We needed to unwind
I guess nothin' can last forever, forever, no
    Yeah
And now the times are changin'
Look at everything that's come and gone
Sometimes when I play that old six-string
I think about you, wonder what went wrong
    Standin' on your mama's porch
You told me that it'd last forever
Oh, and when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
    Oh, yeah
Back in the summer of sixty-nine, oh
It was the summer of sixty-nine, oh, yeah
Me and my baby in sixty-nine, oh
It was the summer, the summer, the summer of sixty-nine, yeah

I was -11 at that time, so no. Bit I wouldn't mind being 19 again for a summer or so.

Nope! I'm 19 right now in fact! Romanticizing the past is a dangerous game. I used to wish I could live in the 70's so that more of my peers would be on board with the new age lifestyle. But then I realized that that's all an illusion. You need to bloom where you are planted... whether that's a rose in a well tended garden or a dandelion breaking through a crack in the concrete!:blush:

Let's see. That would be twenty years before I was born--worse than being born yesterday! It would be unfamiliar territory, but we got through it as a country, so I suppose I could, too. But they still had the draft & registration and a war was going on. Just my luck! And would my wife go back with me? If not, sounds like a bad deal.

Fun question. I'd have to agree with those who said hell no tho. Seems like some fun times then for sure a crazy amount of chaos to go with it.

I was 17. War protests, draft protests, race riots, police looking for any chance to harass you. I don't really remember it being bad. But I also don't remember it being great ether. I do remember a few friends that I never saw again because of 'Nam.

That it was just before the digital age is a reason to say yes for me.

I started reading at the first of this post, and yeah I think it was definitely a challenging time with Vietnam, the fight for civil rights, etc. I do think, though, that I would have been proud to have said I was 19 then. My birthday fell in the middle of the draft calendar as I look it up, so who knows if I would have gone or not. I am the youngest of two male children. I do often dream about Woodstock though. A lot of people who were genuinely good at heart with a strong desire for self-expression. I wish I could just walk around and interview them. Oh, and to see Country Joe and Grace Slick would have been fantastic!

I was 16 in 69, parents locked me and my brother in the house to keep us from going to Woodstock... 90 miles away. :(
