My mini cooper topped out somewhere between 120 and 130 on the way back to LA from vegas.. with the top down. Good times.
Ive pushed it to the limit, i didnt crash gates are wild shit like that didnt happen...but it was a oddesy...I didnt check the spedomete...it wasnt fast Lol
i've never owned a vehicle that was capable of doing more than about 85. the fastest i've driven was in my mom's car. i think i might have hit about 105 in that. luckily, when i got pulled over a few minutes later i was only going 85.
none of my cars could ever make it past 80...but I took my mom's car to about 108...It was friggen awesome!
165 mph... 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 with "Bonneville" gears (2.78:1 rear gear ratio, a highly modified 330 cid motor, Turbo 400 auto trans.)
Had the Torino up to 125. I had just gotten it and the front tires needed to be balanced. Eddie Moneys Shakin came to mind that day.
about 180 kph ....downhill in a k car (standard trans) have to guess its 180 because it only read to 160 but was still speeding up
there was only one time i pressed the gas all the way down and it was in my old toyota, given to me because my friend owed me a radio dont even remember the year. im not a car guy and that was a long time ago. on the way home from school on the nj parkway i would top out at 98 when i hit one of the small hills at mile marker 110 or so. since then i grew up and have never felt the need to show off what my cars can do.
it has to do with the need to show off. your car is rated for a certain speed you know it can go that fast what are you trying to prove
all the cars i have ever owned were governed at 105 to 115 mph. I've maxed them all out My subaru legacy goes 115 (what i drive now) my wife's lumina goes 107 ish (what she drives now) my omega only went 100 or 105. It had one of those weird elongated speedometers so it was really hard to tell. my custom cruiser wagon i think made it to 90 once, but there mustve been something wrong with that car anyways. my neon hit 105 and you could hear it wanting a LOT more, but the governor said NO
i'm not a car guy at all. when there was no speed limit accross much of the state of nevada, and streatches of freeway there on which it was safe to do so, i did open er up what she'd do. but my vehicles were never cars designed to set speed records, nor could i ever see any point in wanting one that would have been. trucks, vans and 4wd jeep type off roaders
