She wasn't an idol but I use to praise Madonna early in her career into the early 90's. Then I saw what an egotistical bitch she was on television and I stopped. I still like her voice but I don't have much respect for her.. I remember seeing Kevin Costner taking his daughter back stage and speaking to her, what a rude person.

 

I don't have female idols.

 

I used to sort of idolize Kurt Cobain. But I feel like suicide is such a big mistake. I was fourteen when he ended his life. Honestly, I didn't get into his music until after he had gone (because I was at boarding school and didn't have access to music or television). It's only recently that I realize how cool Nirvana was/had the potential to be. However, I'm over Kurt Cobain the idol. Just not my cup of tea. I still like "On a Plain" though.

 

Never got the big deal about Nirvana.

 

Always disliked Dave Grohl for being that guy that ended up more successful basically becuase some other guy shot himself in the head

But also becuase he is a bit of a douche

 

I think Dave Grohl actually seems pretty nice and down to earth. But you're probably right, he would have just lived his career in Kurt's shadow if Kurt had never killed himself

I liked Nirvana a lot back in the day. Still do, every few years i'll go on a kick and listen to them for a couple of days at a time. Never really idolized Kurt though, he was obviously a messed up individual. I always felt bad for his daughter

i really don't know anything about the guy. normally i would just consider him another shitty musician, but i keep hearing radio DJs saying that he's the greatest musician ever and shit like that, which makes me hate him even though it's really not his fault.

 

it's cracking me up because i don't do foos, but i have actually heard him sound good. I think he did some harmonies with kurt in nirvana too. he's not all bad imho, but again you're correct about the radio dj's and the radio seems to overplay them despite my lack of enthusiasm.

 

yeah, I get this. I think he's an okay musician and he writes okay songs, but nothing exceptional. But people really do act like he's the greatest musician of his generation

 

Nirvana was the fucken shit.

And I didn't even really like them all that much. But that Unplugged album tho.

yeah, i haven't intentionally listened to any other nirvana in probably about 13 years. but i'll still pop unplugged on occasionally.
