    I've got 2 Gibsons: a Les Paul Studio and a 1948 ES-125.
and 2 Fenders: a Mexican Stratocaster and a Jazz Bass.
As well as a Fender Deluxe amp.

Lately, I've been loving the sound of the Strat, for everything I play. It's a brighter sound than I could get from a Gibson. I use the ES-125 for jazz and blues stuff, though it doesn't feel nearly as comfortable as the Strat. The LP used to be my main guitar, but I'm finding the LP's sound not nearly as bright and pure as the Strat, not to mention it's really heavy.
My preference changes frequently...right now I'm leaning towards Fenders.

But if you're talking about anything hollow-body, Gibson is unquestionably superior.

I do love some telecaster and the jazz bass but I have to give it to Gibson for making the SG and every acoustic they make... Gibson acoustics make me cream my pants...

    Fender Jagstang; what a model.
Also like Fender Stratocasters (USA 70's classic models), Telecasters, Mustangs, and Jaguars.

I gotta have both! They both have such distinct and unique sounds, like an artist using different brushes for different textures.

I did used to be a Fender only guy, but when I got my 1969 vintage SG, it practically played itself and I was hooked! For heavy psychedelic freakout, I use the SG - when its blues time I plug in the Strat. I dont know how I got along without one of each as long as I did.

Gibsons are fine guitars but I absolutely love my 1968 Fender Telecaster Bass. I've been playing it since I bought it in 1972. Whens the last time you've seen one?

I had a strat, and now own a Les Paul in need of repair. I like both, but there is something about the Gibson tone I get. Though a fender is more versatile I think.

  15. For general jamming and most comfortable guitar I will take the good ole Fender Strat. For a change in playing style and a grittier sound I do like a Gibson Les Paul.
