WOW, I have so many....and cannot name just one author...but Tanith Lee is a wonderful author of fantasy...
Deborah Harknes, All Souls Trilogy. "A Discovery of Witches", "Shadow of Night" and coming out this July "The Book of Life". Real good fantasy about other creatures in our earth. Story flashes from present to 1650 to 1200 and some characters are in all times, others, (mortals), usually are only in one period.
At the moment I am reading Fantasy books by R Scott Bakker. I got through his first "Prince of Nothing" trilogy and now I am on his second trilogy set after the first "The Aspect Emperor" It's incredible reading, highly recommended for anyone who enjoys high fantasy that's dark and philosophical
Another Trilogy I've enjoyed over the last month The Broken Empire by Mark Lawrence. Dark and heavy fantasy, not for everyone, but certainly up my street.
Got to me my all time favorite: The Hobbit Lord of the rings The Children of Hurin The Silmarillion Can you tell i'm a J.R.R. Tolkien fan :book:
The anubis gates by tim powers closely followed by The scar by china mieville Angelmaker by Nick Harkaway
An amazing, but unknown book is Tunnels , written by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams. The story starts telling the normal life of Will, a boy that likes to dig tunnels, and discover marvels buried into the ground.
The Bible...my favorite part is Gen 19:8; “Now behold, I have two daughters who have not had relations with man; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them whatever you like; only do nothing to these men, inasmuch as they have come under the shelter of my roof”. Mmmm, love a good gang-rape story.
Ah, here's another tiny-brained denizen of many a fantasy novel... Behold the small brained troll! We'll just ignore him. I have to stick with a classic, read to my fifth grade class by our dear teacher, Miss Irene Flynn; The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
