Isn't that an ani-anxiety med? If it is, my dad used to take them...don't know if he still does, but I know it's one of those meds that need time to build up in your system before you start to notice a change. My dad said they worked well for him, I guess they are made to be like paxil & zoloft......? He used to take those too, but he liked the effexor best. I hope you aren't asking of wanting to get high because it certainly wont do that for you.
My experience with effexor was this: My best friend took some from her brother-in-law and we each endulged in them on the first day of school of my junior year. It seemed to kind of work, but I got really nauseous about 30 minutes after taking it. And I figured out it is best to eat something first!! And then the next day I remember feeling extra melancholy... like the pill drained all of my happy away and there was none left the next day.... But it is over the counter, so that's a plus.
Effexor is by prescription only. I was on it for a year & a half, but once I got off, it really fucked me up. I would never recommend it to anyone because the withdrawal effects are too severe.
I'm on it, I've been on it for a while...maybe a year and a half? Anyway I like it, it's done good things for me. I'm in the process of being weaned from it now, which seems to be going alright. Prism, what kind of withdrawl effects did you experience? Sometimes, if I go a couple of days without taking it I feel really weird in my head, and really tired...is that what you experienced??
i was on it last year and it actually made me even MORE depressed. it took me beyond the depression i had. made me feel kinda dazed out, not myself. it made me do things i never would have resorted to. thats just my experience, but i would NEVER recommend it for people.
I think the big thing is to find the one that works for you...everyone's brains are different and they're going to react differently to types of meds. I guess that's why there's so many kinds out there ... there's something for each person's specific needs.
Yeah, I felt really tired & sluggish. I also felt incredibly dizzy as if I couldn't keep my balance while standing up. And it seemed like I felt spontaneous shocking impulses, like a splitting headache for a second or two. Thing is, side effects & withdrawal symptoms can vary from person to person.
