I love the occasional dubstep track. But as a genre, its really not my favourite. Most of it is just very generic.

No it wasn't it was influenced by garage and artists like El-B and Zed Bias. Reggae and Dub had absolutely nothing to do with it.

reggae had influence after them, Steve Gurley, Zed Bias, Oris Jay, and others started prototypes to dubstep, but reggae, jazz, and garage helped influence it even more.

Yeah but you could say they were influenced by all types of music. More literally though, dubstep is spawned off of garage. They're both produced within the 130-140bpm range and even before dubstep had a name it was just called garage. Reggae didn't really have anything to do with it.

Dubstep is Speed garage and 2-step. They called it dubstep because at the time they were using lots of jungle and dub influenced stuff.

My friends from work and husband have introduced me to dubstep. Being honest, at first I wasn't sure what to think of it. I kept giving it a chance and trying different artists to see if that would make a difference, and it actually has helped. We recently watched a video as to how dubstep is made, and I was disappointed.
I work super long hours at work and when I need that extra "jump" to get me through my day this is what I'll turn on.
