Do you think the way of the Flower Children will ever resurface into like today youth? The art style, the psychedelic visuals, the music style, the tune in turn on drop out lifestyle, you know. In today modern world, where grass is being legalized across the USA. Where division run rampant across the country. Where protest are breaking out like they did in 1965, and 1966 with Feminism resurface, and BLM which mirrors the Black Panther Party late 60s. There is so much hate in this country for our fellow man, that the hippie must comeback, to sped the message of brotherly and sisterly love, ya dig?

I Think To A Degree The Hippy Culture Will Resurface But In A Different Form.

I Have To Agree The World Is In A Mess At The Moment And Only The Nations

Leaders Can Sort This Out........But When The Big Stuff Is Sorted I Feel Confidant

We Will See An Uprising That May Not Be Called Hippies But Still Want Things

The Hippie Culture Stood For.......Like Peace And Harmony For Mankind....... :afro:

    Cheers Glen.

History rarely repeats itself - but yes - the same energy in a slightly different and updated wrapper. Love to see it happen across the world.

From the wisdom I've gathered of the old and young hippies, I've come to realize that those who truly believe in a peaceful wandering soulful way of life never die out. Our awareness just ebbs and flows along with the turning of the worldly tides.

The circle of life like the seasons and wheel things turns and returns, however, just as environment changes and when riding a bicycle, although the process remains static, with time and revolution along with evolution it is the scenery which changes
Rebellion is the process if not duty of an ever changing youth
With age comes great(er) observation ... methinks

To ask answer this question you first have ask what killed the movement.

From the 60's to mid mid 90's the US had many counter-culture groups like punk, hippies, gutter punk, crust punk, grunge so on. All these groups had one think in common rebel the establishment. All rebel of being sheep to society. There was conflict with the system. Now people more happy with the system and less of this I hate the establishment.

Also I think by late 90's the internet, cell phones, facebook, social media, video games and consumerism became the opium now. And the middle class being gone so no time to rebel and protest.

So unless it gets much worse it is unlikely.

I actually think there are some things that have come back around in that sense... not whole-heartedly and in a modernized version but I do feel like some of the music, clothing and views have parallels...

I think Jello Biafra really seems to sum up the line and lineage quite well in this video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksKWonVOAgE

That spirit was always here before the hippies and after it just changed.

being a hippie is a state of mind of a counterculture movement based on equality, freedom, liberty, music and self expression..today the world turns around politics,power,money,greed,yuppies...the internet narcissistic game we all are addicted to...in the 60's=no cellphones, internet etc...but we found eachother when it was necessary..I mix with lots of neo hippies on raves nowadays...and for me..they are as good as the people i met in the early 70's...who can give me a true definition of a real hippie?

"The more things change, the more they remain the same." "They" will be back. The media will attach a new name, as was done in the 50s and 60s by someone other than Mr Herb Caen, who did the honors for beatnicks and then hippies.

Old Tiger's experience is about the same as mine. Through psychedelic trance parties in the woods, I've met many very hip people with basic hippie values. The global underground lives!

    The idea never went away.

The values of life over money, love for fellow man and the earth are all still here. Now they are just called "socialism" or some evil sounding word by people who don't have it in them to think of others these ideas will always be confusing. Why does a lion care what the cheetah feels?

Actually the lion has a specific interest in NOT understanding what the cheetah feels, because that might impinge on its feeding habits.

i think life is about inner feelings,music,emotions..turn it into hippie feelings or not?it's something we experiencewithin ourselves=into the core of our soul, between our own 2 years..the rest==is just INTERNET...there is no true definition about who or who is not a real hippie or not..because we cannot put emotions or feelings directly into a forum..feelings are between people..not between a screen where we do not even know who is on the other side of it..hippies are probably gone...the internet took over..in 1969 we could not talk via the www...now..we can..so let's talk then, folks==what's a true hippie?i think we're all just talking bullshit sometimes about hippies=this is a hippie forum where we can actually talk bullshit..nobody knows what a real hippie is...

It feels like there is an interest in retro, though the focus is not on the sixties and seventies as much as it seems to be about the 80s and 90s. It frustrates me a little bit actually because I was around during those eras! :D I've decided that I'd feel a little bit awkward embracing a trend that stems from my own era... clearly I am getting older.

But what you're talking about always seems to be an image thing.. Something they can sell.
Like how the grunge fashion came about because it was the type of clothing currently in thrift stores (so I read) and yet now you can pay a lot of money for the "grunge look". It's bullshit.

I don't know, I find conversations about "what is a hippie?" and similar such questions to be exhausting. Who cares?
There are a whole bunch of people here who don't fit the stereotype. There are different political opinions and morals and fashion senses and music tastes.. I guess "hippies" are people who don't worry about surface nonsense and just wanna communicate. Or something.

It's what's beyond the stereotype that matters man. The "look" is back but the mentality ain't, least not amongst most. These days the stereotype is hipster but they ain't got the soul.
