I discovered him a few years ago when I saw a novel about Troy in the new book section of the library. An amazing storyteller. Troy was supposed to be a trilogy but Gemmell died before completing the third book. I was so pissed. Seriously, he has a whole catalogue of great books. Also as I was writing this wikipedia just told me that his wife finished his third book of the Troy series with his notes. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
i read shedloads of Gemmell in my youth Legend still stands out as his magnum opus for me (Druss is still one of my favourite literary characters) ... the Drenai and Rigante series' were my faves i grew out of his writing style about a decade ago .... but for anyone looking for good ol' heroic fantasy, he definitely deserves a read gods bless ya david gemmell :sunny:
